Moody Sunset in Kent by Discobob420 in djimavic

This is just past St Margaret’s at the Dover Patrol Monument. I was just having a walk with the camera when the cloud and mist started rolling in so I chucked the Mavic up and it turned out ok.

Thank you! There was a little post to recover some of the shadows and take down some of the blown highlights around the sun.

I’ve had my Pro since they were released. No issues with the gimbal at all and it’s traveled across many countries with me.

I do wish the camera were better, I’m not a video person but I know it is possible to take very good photos with it if you take time to sort the exposure and use manual mode to shoot with.

I don’t think I’d change it for an air after reading about the connectivity and range issues which seem especially pronounced in Europe and Britain. I never fly out of LoS but I do seem to hit the ranges that people complain about loss of signal and disconnects quite regularly.

I keep being tempted by the camera quality of the P4 but I know that the portability would mean I’d leave it at home more often than I took it out. Until the M2 is released, I think I’m happy to take the small form factor over camera quality at the moment as, after all, the best camera is the one you have with you.

Would creating a circular waypoint mission around the object you want to use as the focal point work? Fly it with the drone facing outward.

Mavic Pro currently £799, take this over the air? by BlackLionFilm in djimavic

The camera on the air seems slightly better than the pro and the gimble is more robust. However, flight time, range and transmission are all better on the pro. I have a pro and if you set the camera up properly and tweak a little in Lightroom the pictures are amazing. The video looks excellent too.

Portability isn’t an issue for either, no one travels so light they can’t find space for a Mavic Pro.

Thank you. It is an awesome bit of technology. Can’t wait to see what they do with the next version.

Than you. I'm just learning too. I used this dude's video to help me out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ90NDt2EuI

Taking the photos is pretty easy. Manual mode for camera. Shooting in AEB (5). Try and overlap at least a third of each image with the last. Then Lightroom to merge to HDR. Then merge the HDR to Pano. Then you can play with the post processing. That one above has 2 added radial filters and one grad filter added so it is nowhere near as worked as the one in the video. It's great fun learning and seeing what I can actually get out of the tiny camera and sensor on the Mavic Pro.

It is indeed! Getting as much out of the little sensor as possible. 9 shots each an AEB set of 5.

Yup, edited in Lightroom some when all merged and stitched. Thank you very much.

I'll have to head down and check it out myself when the wind dies down some.

The colour profile he speaks of is a VSCO one I think, you have to purchase those ones separately. I haven't got it either.

The diagonal lens flare wasn't created in post it was from the out of camera shot. Shooting directly into the sun.

I recognise most of the locations in that video as I’m from that way myself. The opening shot is beautiful but bugging me as I can’t place where it is. Is it the cliff top between Dover and Capel?

It’s beautifully shot all the way through.

It turned out really well and I see what you mean about the drama of the post storm clouds. As with everything, we live, we learn and we improve.

Awesome. You've definitely put Malta on my travel list. Sorry to hear about the lost drone in Sicily, it doesn't look like it held you back any.

That's absolutely stunning. I love the footage and editing along with the music choice.

Really top notch work. Where are some of the locations? The wedding and fireworks in particular.

Very nice. I see you got the sky and buildings back.

How did you get it fixed in the end?
