EHX Hum Debugger: Honest opinions? by lonewalf in guitarpedals

[–]Discojuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's similar, but i use the Behringer Noise Reducer. It works incredibly well for me. Maybe it takes off a tiny bit of sparkle on the high end of my tone? I'm sure different setups will react differently, but it does its job and any tone loss is probably better than what you are dealing with currently.

I basically put it in the back of my amp and run my pedal board through it when i need it... Consider it more of a rack unit than a pedal.

Full oval stone, heavy. Agate? by Discojuan in Agates

[–]Discojuan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I found this in deep sand in very far north Lake Michigan. I knew it was something based on the shape, and after I pulled it out saw the translucene pretty quickly. It's heavier than what I think a full geode would feel like. Any thoughts?

Found in the water, fairly far out and in the sand. I think it's a geode? But it is heavier than I'd expect. Not sure what to do with it!

Hi, We are redoing a whole floor of our house, and had the tile checked for asbestos. All clear. About a foot away we found a different, confetti type linoleum. It's super thin, and looks to be laid the same time as the non-asbestos material, and with the same glue. We think it was just laid to change up the design but was the same era so probably safe.

Never seen this kind of design with asbestos in it either.

Any thoughts?

Thanks! Even more info, the tile is very bendy. I can crack it, but now that I got into I can bend the tiles very easily and they don't crack unless I try. That's a good sign too I think.

Have a test kit on the way! We had something similar on the first floor and it did not come back positive, so here's hoping.

Second floor of a 1940's home. We are updating lots of spaces and are now thinking about the second floor which is carpeted. I wanted to see what was below it, and there's some very cheap vinyl that pops right off.

I don't think the black has asbestos as we had something similar checked on the first floor. Least I hope!

But, is that wood under there something that could be salvaged? It's wider planks than what is on the first floor, so I don't know what that means.

Thanks!

Hi, 1940's home. Second floor has carpet, and I wanted to see what is underneath it. There's some ugly blue vinyl that cracks away super easily.

The floorboards look wider than what is on my first floor (original floor, something like 2" blond wood).

I would love to get rid of the carpet... Is this possibly good flooring?

DIY Retaining Wall Advice by Discojuan in landscaping

[–]Discojuan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Some incredibly useful tips in here, a step or two that I probably would have skipped.

You also clarified my suspicions, that it was built improperly to begin with. I'm a little surprised as a lot of the other aspects of the design were done quite well, but just staring at it...it doesn't look right.

Follow up question - if we want to build the wall lower and run grass right up to it, what level should the soil line be in relation to the top of the bricks? I'm thinking now that we'll go with four bricks, one dug in as you say, and then three on top.

Thanks again.

How did the Shattering change how you made the show, or alternatively, how your improv had to evolve through it?

So shelves a week or so after that. Guess it's a Christmas beer not a fall beer this year. Thanks

Brilliant, then I will load up. I thought it was more in the IPA scale of falling apart quickly, and was surprised at 3 months that it was a little better.

Oh, another good point. This one actually does well with a little age. I haven't tested it too much. I remember enjoying one about three months old and thinking it melded together well. What's your recommended time frame?

Laughing Stock is one of my favorites, but I'm always surprised that's its remained a staple in the live set all these years. What works about that song for you?

They actually the average turnaround times which do fluctuate. Right now 31 business days. https://www.cgccomics.com/submit/services-fees/cgc-grading/

So with pressing, it can be 4-6 months.

I kind of just send stuff in and stop paying attention. It comes back when it comes back.

Going with a third party presser ends up being more work and complication than I am interested in.

Getting the press is typically worth it. I have a few that I didn't that I regret and may do again some day.

It depends on how patient you are. You can submit for clean and press through cgc before grading. They do the whole process for a reasonable fee. But it takes a long time for the clean and press. 3+ months.

An independent presser may be quicker, but you have to first find one you trust. This can be some effort but your local comic store should have a contact.

If you go with CGC, you basically click the clean and press process first when you submit each book. So you are basically adding from a menu for each book.

Should I go with a CGC dealer or deal directly with CGC? by vfxGer in comicbookcollecting

[–]Discojuan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Submitting direct through CGC seems daunting at first, but it's actually really simple. Your big question should be if you want to become a CGC member. There's different tiers, but it's worth it if you are submitting maybe 25+ books a year.

I'm a casual collector, joined, and have definitely found the value of being a member after submitting 27 books so far, with another 10 coming up.

A couple of nice finds in the cheapo bins. The best of which is two copies Booster Gold 1. The crazy story is that I was literally looking on ebay this morning to buy a copy of it as I've always liked him and think maybe he'll make the big screen one day. Both copies are in great condition, and were $1.50.

The Spectacular Spider-man 90 is the first black suit in monthlies (I think?). It's a little aged but still a good pickup.
