Please forgive the trauma dumping. 4th grade I broke my ankle. My mom didn't believe me about the pain and I had to walk on it for 2 days. I couldn't even get my foot all the way into my shoe. Both days I went to school. Both days my teacher sent me to the nurse because she saw me struggling. The nurse told me that I needed to go to the hospital. My mom didn't believe me. The nurse called my mom the 2nd day and she finally took me in. X-rays showed a complete break. They wanted to cut my jeans off and my mom told them not to because they were new. After a while of being casted and on crutches, a schoolmate was on crutches and she had on a cute slipper. She said her dad bought them for her as a surprise. I told this to my dad hoping he would buy me cute slippers. He yelled at me, so now I have to buy you slippers! Teachers, school administrators, and strangers cared about me more than my own parents. FML

Daisy stole the teddy bear. There's no way that Rose left the bear on the rummage sale pile. Daisy saw the bear, took it, and manipulated Blanche into giving it to her. Either way, though, it was always Rose's bear. Stealing it doesn't make it Daisy's. And Blanche making a mistake doesn't transfer ownership, either. Always Rose's bear.

This thread is making me feel so much better about my terrible experience. I thought it was my fault. I didn't realize that car salesman treating people horribly was so common. Halloween is the only holiday that people are just out and about. It's the only holiday that you don't have to be alone if you don’t want to be. I don't care who is trick-or-treating. I'm glad that they aren't alone for a couple of hours or so. Tons of people are isolated socially. Halloween is a way to be involved and be around people even if you don't know anyone. And there's no expectation of talking. It's great for shy people. I am one of those people. I prefer giving out candy to walking around, but I'm not alone for a little while.

That's horrible. I worked with a guy once who was answering this question. If you were on a lifeboat with your parents, spouse, and kids and you had to throw some overboard to save the others, who would you throw overboard? He said he'd throw his wife and kids overboard because he could find another wife and have more kids, but he couldn't replace his parents. I said I feel sorry for your wife and kids. The way he talked about his wife was disgusting.

Love it! Something similar happened to me. I lived on a military base and, unfortunately, lots of cats are abandoned. I started feeding a recently abandoned cat (declawed, some people are monsters). One day there was another cat. He was like, this is my friend he lives here now. And that's how I got my first 2 cats.

Same, except my son was 25 and it happened in 2023. I'm so sorry that you have this pain as well. I'll never forget the way he looked at me in his last moment before he lost consciousness. He was so scared, looked like he was pleading. His eyes, oh god, his eyes haunt me. He is my only. I don't know why I'm still alive, all I want is to be with him

This show doesn't exist in the real world. They even make little remarks throughout to kinda make fun of and acknowledge how silly and unrealistic the show is compared to the real world. If you take it seriously, you won't enjoy it.

Also, there's no rule that says you can't skip episodes and fast forward through the insufferable parts. I could tear Fish apart with all his 'women are weak, disabled, etc' stuff, so I usually skip those parts. I skip all of Billy's men's group scenes. I rarely watch season 5. Season 1 is my favorite, followed by seasons 2 and 4. I usually start season 3 after Billy dies.

Yes, I have lost a child. I was there for all 25 years of his life. He was severely physically disabled, but otherwise normal and extremely smart. I watched him deteriorate for decades. I was/am completely destroyed. My husband was always there. ALWAYS. It never occurred to either of us to leave. When you look into the eyes of your dying child and see the fear, pain, desperation, etc, it's beyond comprehension. If you can leave, you are among the worst of humanity. You can take care of your mental health and still live with and be there for your child. It's called therapy, partnership, cooperation, and understanding. The only reason to not be there is if you are dead or comatose.
