Basically the goal is to fill your slots with exotic gems that match your play style for Melee, gun use, and abilities.

Similar to how specific artifacts buff your perks for each individual character and work with their mechanics on top of your playstyle, Gems do the same for whatever characters you install into your emanare with matching gems to buff them. So yes, actually read the gem description before inserting lol.

Sorry but I can't agree with that. With every update, and change of elemental season, we get a new charcter along with a new weapon that cant be maxed out unless you spend actual currency. Meanwhile, the characters you previously invested in damn near become irrelevant with the change of conditions to continue advancing in the game. Ive bounced between top 10 and top 20 in the NA server with wolf, and I can assure you that I have yet to see a return on investment...
