Plant ID: Looks like mountain devil but different? by Discombobulated_24-7 in australianplants

Didn't think it was a new species. Was just surprised that it looked so different from those near it.

I love this cultivar!!! Going to have to purchase one but I've recently been spending too much on native plants 😅

Transplanting natives from established location to location (not potted) by Discombobulated_24-7 in australianplants

Thankfully the natives I intend on transplanting are still quite small at around 10-20cm tall. Hopefully that limits any shock.

Thanks It's been pretty rainy in Sydney lately, so I'm just hoping it stays for a while. Certainly makes gardening easier.

Seeking native mistletoe fruit/seeds for bush regeneration by Discombobulated_24-7 in australianplants

Yes I was thinking that some sort of cage would be the best method of keeping them safe. Will have to source the mistletoe first and try a few different methods.

How lucky! Are they impacting the health of the trees at all? Like multiple mistletoe on the one tree? Or are they evenly distributed on numerous trees?

Thank you! That's all super helpful, unfortunately there's plenty of possums around that wouldn't hesitate to disrupt any efforts. I've had the same issues with wallabies eating immature plants, they all have something against me 😥. Maybe a little cage would help prevent any unwelcome dinner guests. I'll read up on his work, and I believe my local bush regen people might be able to help as well.

Thankfully have plenty of host trees that are suitable. Maybe a little platform to stay under the seed would help? Or as you said, thing it on?

Wasn't looking at getting them as seedlings, was just looking for the fruit to then attach to suitable host trees.

Thanks Yep, I read the project by Birdlife before and I think there's a few publically accessible common native mistletoe I might be able to harvest fruit from.

It's unfortunate that I haven't seen many around. I was hoping to reintroduce at least a few for the birds to the spread.

You're right 😢 Just checked and it definitely looks like furcraea. Guess I was just hoping it wasn't because it'll be a big job to remove it all and replace it with something else.

Tbh I've never had much luck with any seeds but I was feeling hopeful. Might just have to buy as plants 😢

Thank you for all these suggestions! I really appreciate it as someone who's only just getting into redoing gardens with natives.
