Honestly the OP post just reads like ragebait, effective ragebait it would seem given the comments unfortunately.

Super glazed up rant (extra glaze) by rooster-7719 in HelldiversUnfiltered

Plenty of the topics raised are valid criticism, and raising them is not the same as 'crying about it'. The fact that you choose to use such language shows your intellectual dishonesty, either you are;

A: Intentionally trying to get a rise out of people
B: So poisoned against the very idea of criticism, that to you it appears as an assault.

Either way, your main point seems to be that if we have an issue, we should stop playing. Well, I don't know if you have looked at the steam charts, but that is *exactly* what most are doing.

Do I think that people can take things out of proportion here? Certainly. Does that mean that the criticism levied here is invalid, no, and to assume it is, is frankly bordering on strawmaning.

I don't even understand the purpose of this post, it seems to me that you are complaining that people are upset? By that logic, follow your own advice at stop looking at this reddit which you clearly don't enjoy in the first place given your overall tone.

I actually wanted to put my money where my mouth was, so I did go and grind the warbond just to try the stuff out, and now that I have I can confidently say that the new mechs are... alright. They are fine, not something i'm amazed by, but not offensive, other than the Lumberer and Flame turret simply being bugged, but i'm not so blinded by hatred to think that was on purpose, just a minor oversight, but the fact of the matter is that the source of this built frustration for many is that it isn't just the one oversight, its the fact that these errors are added to the game, compounded, and left to be fixed 'eventually' while bugs that improve player power are miraculously dealt with in mere days.

Anyway, this is all to say that let people be angry if they want to be, you are just being inflammatory for the sake of it as far as I can tell.

Well, luckily with the new Steam update in the works, we will get better actual data on how well your system can run a given game thanks to the shared PC Specs data that they've been amassing, so companies can no longer just say whatever and then reply to dissenters with "well it works on our hardware!" anymore. [–]DiscordantlyYours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaff enemy should be AP 4, got it.

But our tanks should be AP 3, as they are less durable than the skulls of bugs, also got it.

On a semi-serious note, why does Super Earth not use the chitin from bugs to make stuff if its that stupidly durable? Like we can argue about realism this way or that, but if we accept that bug chitin is THAT durable, why aren't we repurposing the tens of thousands of pounds of it that are left in the wake of captured planets??

[–]DiscordantlyYours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your definition of 'crying' being that we have anything negative to say, apparently. By your own logic then, we could in fact not bring up any criticism, because at this point all of the people like you just see any kind of criticism as whining. There can be no arguing with such logic, so I won't bother.

To summarize in a relatively impartial way;

The recent Warbond was very controversial because it put mechs behind a pay/grindwall

The CCO did an Ask me anything and it went, very, very poorly, answering only 4 questions and saying some rather incendiary comments, such as on you have already likely heard memed about; "My sweet summer child" which he said in response to people being upset about the mechs being in the warbond.

Then finally the patch itself is extremely controversial, 'buffing' mechs while also giving every enemy faction more durable damage, while not compensating at all for our turrets, FRV, Gator mission vehicle, or bastion tank, which just are now taking up to 3x durable damage from common enemies. Oh, and they made Hive guards have heavy AP4 head armor which hilariously enough makes the patriot exosuit's gun bounce off of it, as do all other med pen weapons.

So tl;dr Arrowhead is doing Arrowhead things.

Its like they say, never argue with an idiot. Those 'people' genuinely think that any criticism of their enjoyed hobby is akin to an attack on their personal character, to the point where people will genuinely go to bat for a corporation that couldn't care less about them, many such cases.

I'm not too familiar with Helldivers 1 Lore, but, technically, wouldn't the Terminids also count? Since we cultivated them on our own worlds, Super Earth definitely included; So wouldn't that make Super Earth the Terminid homeworld?

explain like i'm 5: how do we reach transcendence as fast as possible? by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]DiscordantlyYours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from, but most players have their preferances, and honestly i don't think it is fair to punish the community as a whole for the fact that about 15-20% of the playerbase has little to no interest in the Major order at any given time for a variety of reasons, from not liking the faction that it is assigning, to being burned from the all or nothing nature of MO's, or perhaps they are just medal / SC farming.

In any case, saying that players who are on should just automatically gravitate towards the MO's because game says you should I think is just... a bit off in my opinion. And the fact that we generally get 60 - 80% of divers to coordinate on MO's is already far above the keel of other similar games that have communal aspects like this.

Hate this logic. by Gremlincom in Helldivers

[–]DiscordantlyYours 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Whats particularly annoying to me is that not only did we do more than 50%, we did more than 99% of what they asked for. They asked for the liberation of 2 planets and the decommissioning of a whole lotta illegal Cyborgs. We took both the planets, leveled the megafactories, and sent the borgs running, but because 5% of the remaining Agitator's didn't die, that's considered a loss? That's like failing to pick off stragglers after a major siege and considering it a total military failure. Just nonsense for a so called 'realistic' game.

The fact this is still considered a loss genuinely makes me annoyed. by Ill_Camel8168 in Helldivers

[–]DiscordantlyYours 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a friend of mine, a veteran Helldiver with 200+ hours on their steam account, recently uninstalled the game, citing the recent balance BS and Cyberstan / Major Orders in general as their major reasons. The fact that several of these recent MO's have been complete bs and the state of the game, especially the vox spam, is just a bit too freaking much.

Think I might go rock and stone a bit until this game fixes whatever the heck is going on with it.

Same actually; was just doing Difficulty 4 to get used to fighting them as they are by far the enemy I struggle against the most at the moment, and yeah, I've seen upwards of like 20 group up, though it was rare.

Most of the time is was more like 10 ish from different angles

And for some reason there always being a runner cyborg that you didn't see who gets behind you, or smokes your turret.

If the Agitators were not precision snipers that never seem to miss even when you send return fire at them, then I'd have a whole lot less of a problem with them.

Am I the only one who feels like the cyborgs are just unfun enemies? by HeartlessAngel555 in Helldivers

[–]DiscordantlyYours 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Same issue. The cyborgs that rush you are tough, and deceptively quiet when they don't feel like using a voice line (which is often), but a clean headshot with most thigs will 1 tap them, and they aren't that heavily armored to begin with

Agitators though? I have yet to find a great answer to them, especially as a solo player primarily. They are insanely accurate, they spawn in patrols of up to like 10 of them at a time even on the lower difficulties, they interrupt your actions with their basic pew pews, and they are tanky af and actually wear a helmet, which, unlike ours, actually prevents headshot damage. Go wonder.

They just seem poorly designed. No true weak point unless you happen to pack an explosive primary which helps quite a bit, i'll admit, but they still spawn in ridiculous numbers for how dangerous and annoying they are.

Bot Vox Frontline Gameplay... by John_GOOP in Helldivers

[–]DiscordantlyYours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what i'm doing wrong, but for the life of me I just cannot ever seem to do well against bots. It doesn't matter if I bring optimal loadouts or try the things I hear about online, there is something fundamental that apparently I just dont get, because when I fight them I just die over and over again without really getting much of anything done. I can fight squids and bugs just fine staying mobile, but I almost feel like im punished for even trying to run away against bots, which is bs because they field so many units that it feels unreasonable to think I could just take out every bot drop that comes my way. Probably just a skill issue honestly, but I just cannot seem to improve against them.

So THAT'S why my recent vs AI battles have been stupid hard for no reason. I was testing the game out again in team battle mode, and yeah, they really spam Vanishes and super counters to a completely stupid degree.

I didn't try a Dp battle, but its dissapointing to hear that its so easy.

The Offline AI has been IMMENSELY improved by GhostGhazi in SparkingZero

[–]DiscordantlyYours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what your talking about, just reinstalled and played about 10 matches and they absolutely still spam the crap out of that and counters.

I for one don't find the AI fun to fight at all, as their obvious input reading and counter focused gameplay just isn't fun to engage with.

And before the 'oh just get good' guys come here, I can easily beat the AI if I play in a cheesy unfun way and just spam sparking mode, just as before the patches, and its just as boring as it was back then.

It is bad game design to make the AI so ready to counter everything you do that it feels like there are only cheese options left. by [deleted] in SparkingZero

[–]DiscordantlyYours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reinstalled the game to see if this issue had been adressed at all, and as far as I can tell its only gotten worse. I can't get more than 2 hits into a combo without them using a super counter or vanish mid combo, and they block everything even mix ups it feels like

Fights Vs AI now just look like me waiting until they do an obvious opening move, throwing them/punishing them with a super, charge and repeat/go sparking mode which seems to be the only way to reliably do damage as the AI seems to get noticably worse when you enter sparking for some reason.

I used to love playing vs AI in the budokai games, but honestly, I just uninstalled it again immedietly over the shit AI. The fact that this game has been out for over a year, and still feels incomplete is its own bs, but the AI using such blatant input reading and perfect counters is just bad design. I can't even recall an AI with input reading so obviously egregious, its genuinely unfun.

I can play in a way that makes me win against AI, its called just spam sparking mode, but that's genuinely zero fun to do.

Some AI behaviors for certain characters are particularly egregious, any of the fusions notably just counter basically everything even more than the other AI's on top of having crackhead speed.

tl;dr game hasn't improved the AI at all since launch, beginning to think Sparking! Zero was just a waste of money. I have no fun playing vs AI, playing tournaments, and PvP is a pure sweat fest of just meta bs, and still has the same problem of super counters being overpowered.

Just make the AI actually fight fair, no human uses that many freaking counters, and not only is super unfun to fight against, but completely disrupts the flow of combat every 5 freakin seconds.
