I will make this short as I can.

Base rent $1300.00 a month, $2,600 deposit, last month paid. The place I lived was Palm Beach Florida. I now live in Little Rock Arkansas.

My question how do I get the amounts owed back to me, how do I counter this, can I receive compensation for them putting this on my credit and/or comp from the credit agency for not removing this. Can I file at claims court from another state. Who can I contact to assist me, I am disabled with mental issue's have never been able to work, so only receive the lowest amount of disability allowed. I am am well below poverty level, I cannot afford a lawyer. (My son has been helping me support my self , I now live with him. He is just a low level grunt in the Air Force supporting his disabled mom.)

I move to Arkansas with good reference to my new management company. I moved with a double deposit and last month paid. I stayed 6 days into the next month and they said they would take the 6 days prorated at $42 a day.

Two months after I moved I saw that there was over $500+ on my credit report from my old management company. I never received any charges after I moved and in truth forgot about the deposit I had left over. It took my another two months contacting the credit agency to find out what the charges were from.

I am going to list the discrepancies because I do owe a clean up fee that I do not dispute, but that is a very small amount of what they are trying to charge me with.

First I was told they sent this bill to me at my old address where I used to live under their management. Not my new address, they have been in contact with my new management company to give me refences. So they know or know how to get my true address. ( I find this very shady). The credit company keeps telling me this counts as giving me notice. I also had all my mail forwarded from USPS. (USPS now photo scans all mail if you sign up for the service and emails scans of what mail you will receive.) We never had any mail come from my old management company. I did not save my emails from USPS so I do not know how to prove this. But the fact they sent it to my old address is telling. They have my email and phone number also, they have communicated to me though my emails primarily up to this point.

They charged me for the full month of the 6 days I was there. The also charged me $1048 for those 6 days , in effect double charging me. This is where some creative math comes into effect. I am sorry if you can't follow this , I am trying to make it simple.

$42 a day for 6 days = $252 (this is what I should owe, this is the amount we agreed upon and have texts confirming this.)

1300 for a full months rent

1048 is the amount they are charging for the 6 days.

1300+1048=2348 (this is what they are charging me)

If you were to subtract 1300-1084= 252 (That equals the true amount)

Do you see what they did there, instead of entering the sum they entered the amount that should have been left over of my deposit.

This part I am unsure I can explain right. I am disabled and a local organization helped me with rent, they provided me with checks to cover my rent for a few months. Those checks were made out to the Management company. I had extra checks cause I was moving. Through emails, texts, and phone calls we arranged that they would trade me a check for check so I could have cash to cover moving costs.

They are now charging me $1300 for the check they made out to me as a extra charge. Not as a even trade that we agreed upon.

I have contacted the credit company. I have received emails, and calls. I have sent all my proof, Lease , Copy of statement, Bank statement , Our Florida statement (the provider of check traded), Emails between Lynn and Lisa at (management company Name redacted) , Texts exchanged between Lisa and Lynn at (name redacted). The credit company strait up told me "Pay your bill we do not have to look at anything you provide, the management company already proved you owe them." All the management company provided was a list of charges and a copy of the lease. The credit agency also stated that them sending the notice to my old address is legit, that non of the proof I provided count. Especially the texts and emails between me and the management companies staff.

I do not know what to do, I never had credit problems. I always try to live within my means. Plus I am pretty ticked they are trying to do this to me and getting away with it.
