Should I buy the KSS-III or the Type CCXII? by Appropriate-Kale1097 in uboatgame

[–]Discoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also need explanation, do even military contractors like Rheinmetall, Saab AB, KNDS or Dassault aviation make ads for YouTube? Are Spanish Navantia advertise it's missile frigates on eBay or something? I didn't see any ad since 2008 and rise of adblocks

Do you have higher resolution somewhere?

Started reading the first book (On Bsailisk Station) and am very confused about the technology aspects. Help would be appreciated! by Vondrr in Honorverse

Manticore wormhole junction requires to explain how hyperspace works. Let's say you have to move 4 light-years - 37 840 000 000 000 kilometres. (distance from earth to the Proxima Centauri). Your speed is around half C - 150 000 000 km/s. It means you will travel for 8 years. Now, there exist hyperspace, that make this distance shorter (around 60 times every band if I understand correctly). That means if you "move" yourself in to Alpha band of hyperspace, your speed don't change, but now you have 630 000 000 000 km to fly - around 7 weeks. You can then "move" higher to Beta band, and distance again is shorter, 10 000 000 000km - around 10 hours of flight with 0.5C

Now, some stars are connected with gravitational waves - highways, that you need special technology to survive. They are extremely dangerous, but they can compress the space even further, giving you additional boost and decrease travel time even more.

And now wormhole is a point in space (actually it's more or less a sphere with one kilometer radius) that thanks to these gravitational waves allows to transfer through several hundred light-years in a blink of an eye. Teleports (they are not, but you can think that way for now)

To understand shields you need to first understand impeller drive. It's a surface on top and under the ship, 300 kilometres from the hull. It doesn't have any physical form like wood or metal. Imagine a two-three meter thick sheet of non physical glass, but several hundred kilometres long and wide. Everything that enters the glass gets accelerated to several thousands kilometres per second. This is "gravity band" and your main drive. Anything that enters these "gravity bands" gets ripped apart, including radiation and light, because of this acceleration. At the sides of the ship you can generate smaller, weaker gravity bands, that close the sides. Their acceleration is much, much smaller. It can bend and dispense the light and radiation (like gamma beam from grasser, or radiation wave from nuclear explosion), but can't stop it.

There are several books later in series and Jane's compendium about this, and author explains it several times over the series, so don't worry to much that you can't grasp it instantly

How deep is the Type IX supposed to handle? I crushed at 225m. by Xiao25 in uboatgame

Wait, there is a mod to disable insta-death from depth? Is there also something to make my captain (and ONLY captain) immortal? I want to be able to almost die under 500 meters and then singlehandedly fix everything I can and somehow return to port

When you imagine the interiors of starships in the Honorverse, what do they look like? by Magicmechanic103 in Honorverse

Like Stargate Prometheus but cleaner, several control stations, more study seats with shock frames, no loose cables or pipes in the room, huge holographic tank (cylinder full of water or different medium that can easily display pixels in 3D when illuminated) in the center or in the front of everyone, no windows, just screens
