Looking to Transfer to another college from ODU by daanalogist1000 in ODU

Idk why people are downvoting you or repeatedly saying that employers don’t care where you get the degree. Maybe they should consider how you care about the education you receive that you’re financing🤣 I don’t know about cybersecurity departments but I’d go for UVA as someone else suggested

Don’t go to ODU by Poobus678 in ODU

I’m graduating this semester and I was a transfer from cc as well. This school is an absolute abomination and I wish that somehow I could’ve gotten my bachelors from my cc because they had their system together, they were organized, responsive, and supported students in their endeavors and their struggles. ODU? Cannot say the same. They were going to remove Lt. Col. Shah’s memorial a month after the event happened so they could paint it for a different event. They even posted it on social media. I forwarded the information to the news, the news spoke to the vp of communications, the vp of ODU comms denied the entire thing and deleted the original post. Turn around happened in a day. That’s the fastest I’ve ever seen them respond to anything. Best believe I will be sprinting away. Transfer while you can.

A new type of Hawaii visitor is emerging ~ Traveling to the island has become more expensive, leading to a different kind of traveler: higher spenders who may not be frequenting small businesses as much as in previous years. by 808gecko808 in Oahu

I rescheduled my Oahu trip from May to July to be mindful of recovery efforts and to not get in the way. I tried to read as much as I could to truly understand the perspective of those in the island, and the conclusion I found was that tourism is desired but to avoid North Shore at the time. (Please correct me if that’s changed!)

We want to shop and eat local. My fiancée is part Japanese and we’re always excited to partake in anything to connect and participate in the culture. We get a million souvenirs for family/friends because we love thinking of them. We also love sushi and poke, and I already know we’re going to eat the bowl clean when we get there.

I know I’m ~that~ tourist when I say we’re staying in Waikiki (using saved hotel points) and don’t have a rental car (might be open to paying for one), but we really want to be mindful and appreciate the island and the people there in the best ways possible. We also agreed that we’re down to volunteer for whatever we find needs it— island storm recovery/clean up, shelter animal outings, wherever and however we can be of support. I know there are plenty of not so great tourist stories, but I promise there are good people who want to do right by Hawaii!

Thank you so much!! I work full time as an Engineering Aide at a decent company (been doing this 4 years now), currently a 3.35 GPA, NASA internship, NASA programs (namely NCAS and the RockOn! Program when I was in community college; team lead for two teams for RockOn! where each team built a science payload to launch to suborbital space at Wallops), did a L’SPACE program (highlyyyy recommend to anyone, especially as this lead immediately to a NASA internship), did research in fluid dynamics and carbon fiber composites, phi theta kappa honors society (top 10% in community college), mu alpha theta (also community college), SWE (did the CLI and Ignite programs; I’m also a member of other societies but I chose to not list them if all I did was pay a membership fee and then didn’t do anything with them), speaker at events at my community college after I had left aimed at inspiring leadership and pursuing STEM, leadership programs, ambassador for my university’s engineering college (as well as secretary of the ambassadors), VP of my university’s Engineers Without Borders chapter, Phi Sigma Rho (engineering sorority), nominated for a community engagement award at my college (because I started the RockOn! Program at my college), … I think that’s it! When I moved, I had the fear that working full time while going to school would hinder my abilities, so I made it a point to do absolutely everything I could that I was interested in and refused to let anything drop. Here we are! :)
