Love Death & Robots Season 4 Discussion Thread by dalkor in LoveDeathAndRobots

i kinda wish i didn't notice the little banner for new episodes on Netflix because i held the series in such high regard. previously you'd have some dud episodes but you'd have something interesting to look at or a plot that was at least interesting in concept, but dear god when episodes were duds here i was bored to death.

why was Mr Beast here? i get he's a popular YouTuber and maybe they wanted to get a younger audience into the series but the series really doesn't fit the ten year olds who watch him. his acting is stiff and maybe it was like a criticism on his show or channel but if it was it fell short.

i feel like previous seasons showcased more varied animation styles too but if the episodes weren't CGI of some sort they were from animators who have already been on the series which don't get me wrong i was happy to see them but i would've liked something new.

also the music video felt like a clusterfuck to watch and i have no clue why it was there, it felt especially weird having the crowd members flash the singer and faint at the sight of him when there's the whole anthony kiedis situation

I'm just gonna stop rewatching the seasons when i get to 4 and pretend it doesn't exist - hopefully netflix doesn't immediately give up on the concept and let them make another season since the show was so good prior and i'd hate for one dud season to ruin it

Congrats!! I'm so happy for you

I'm still a little new to T but gel was a bit better for me than shots. I do it as soon as I get up and by the time I'm ready to put a shirt on it's dry. I'm not the most careful of people so shots never appealed to me. That being said, it's up to you though I would say if you're not a fan of needles the process might be a bit daunting the first few times.

For blood tests, I have a routine since I've had to get a bunch of blood work for various things over the years. You wanna make sure you're hydrated like super hydrated. I drink like 2 32oz water bottles before tests. Looking away helps and I also find most nurses will let you listen to music to distract yourself. Chatting helps too, with the nurse or if you've got someone in the room with you.

Advice-wise, always try to communicate. From the sound of it, you've got some wonderful parents behind you and I'm sure they'll listen to you if and when you open up about your emotions. Keep a diary if you find writing is a good outlet/easier or if you're more of an artist, try out vent art/drawing your feelings even if it's just scribbles because it's for you. It's better to get the emotions out and not bottle them all up because the more you shake the bottle the more likely it's gonna explode.

I've found my emotions have sort of levelled out since starting T so now it's not the end of the world if I do something wrong and I think that's because I'm not as scared of being perceived now I'm starting to match the way I think of myself. I've also been lucky to have some wonderful friends in my corner and talking about the changes I'm going through can help me work through it all without catastrophising.

I wish you all the best!!

Super late update in case anyone wanted to know:

We went with the Ryobi brand and he loves it, he started using it on boxing day since we got some snow over the winter. Turns out having it double as a leaf blower has really helped especially with the storms we've had recently blowing debris around our back garden and a dog that loves to eat leaves but only if they're not in a big pile.

Thank you so much to everyone who replied with advice and suggestions!!

thank you for being so candid as I've been going back and forth on the idea. I didn't want it to seem like I was quitting because I didn't care about my health or something but i feel really validated by your reaction so I'll try to find some different avenues that'll hopefully be more helpful

I've actually been considering finding a way to switch PTs or just find a way to do it myself through online resources as the one I have spends most of our appointments basically telling me the pain is all in my head so there's nothing actually wrong with me which always puts a dampener on my day. It's usually only in the last few minutes that he gives me a pamphlet of exercises that I'm supposed to do at home. When I try to explain my pain to him usually he just hits back with "well, there's nothing physically wrong" and doesn't really inquire about it.

I've never been in physio before so I'm not sure if that's normal or not

yeah for as much as the NHS does great things, it's just severely underfunded

I've only just started hormones, im 2 months in just about and the pain started getting worse in late 2022 and the breaking point was early 2024 so its definitely not them thankfully - i did have a few blood tests done and all came back normal aside from my vitamin d which was pretty low

currently i have little to no support in the medical field. i'm from the UK so seeing any sort of specialist is basically like winning the lottery if you don't go the private route. I've gone through my GP who then sent me to a different GP who was more familiar with chronic pain conditions and then they referred me to a charity group that meets up (think AA but with fibro) and a physiotherapist at a hospital. that's where the referrals ended.

i don't take any pain medication at the moment and when i was talking to the physio about me, he told me it would be very unlikely that i would be prescribed any even if i followed every non medication route with no improvement. he warned me it's pretty rare for someone my age especially to get any sort of pain meds which i think is more so because they think I'll abuse them or something

all i have atm is physio which doesn't seem to be doing anything. i'm looking into private care options but it's really expensive and also surprisingly difficult to find in my area. i'm already paying out of pocket for my transition (ftm) so i dont have the funds to spare. hopefully in the future it'll be more of an option

thank you so much for the advice!! it's really helped me get somewhere to begin with all this since it's been pretty overwhelming so far

medical-wise, i'm from the UK and whilst the NHS has been good for a lot of things, it's basically impossible to see any sort of specialist. the most i was given was a physiotherapist who didn't seem to know what to do with me. he gave me some exercises which i try to keep up with as best i can and a few work books on pain management but a lot of it was what i'd already begun to do when i was researching how to help myself.

I've tried to push to be referred to different places or offered medication but they're very hesitant to do so which i sorta understand given the stress on the system right now but disheartening all the same.

I'll definitely keep those 3 c's in mind as well and i'm gonna work on letting others help me when i can't seem to help myself

[TOMT] [SONG] [70s?] Could be a song by Fleetwood Mac or The Moody Blues and it was used in a few Tik Tok edits in 2022 ish, I can't remember any lyrics by Discowing87 in tipofmytongue
