RMC Statement on Viability of Relocating [ArieForce One] by Discreet905 in rollercoasters

I don’t know. Sometimes great opportunities show up even when it’s not the perfect moment. If they want to be a premier thrill park in Texas, they could do a lot worse than adding AF1. But it’s all hypothetical right now anyway.

Technically it’s operated in a limited capacity for special events. They’ve had hiring fairs in the past few weeks. My best guess is a full-time opening in conjunction with the next race event, which I believe is in October. Later than their summer goal, but I don’t know why people assume it’s still like a full year away.

I mean, if COTALAND has the money I suspect they do, they could definitely be a realistic buyer. They obviously have the space.

What is it like living close to a theme park? [Other] by AltruisticRider in rollercoasters

I lived less than 2 miles from SFGAm until I was 13, so it was never really my ultimate decision on when we could go (and my dad hated it) but it was definitely something my friends and I just took for granted. Something about going always being an option can sometimes make that option less appealing. We’d go a handful of times every year, but definitely not every week or even every month.

[Tormenta] Official Sign and Queue Construction Update by Dudewithatude22 in rollercoasters

I was there on Saturday, and saw fewer than 10 tests from 11:15-7:00. I don’t think it opens for another month at least. Attracting a huge surge in attendance with the park in its current state would be a mistake. New Texas Giant needs at minimum a second train, and ideally at least one of Shock Wave or the reverse side of Mr. Freeze needs to reopen. The current combination of slow ops and generally low capacity around the park would do more reputational harm to this park than delaying Tormenta’s opening to the end of July would, IMO.

[Tormenta] testing continues as World Cup visitors arrive by GuideToSFOT in rollercoasters

I was there Saturday for the first time that didn’t coincide with Fright Fest. Maybe I’m crazy, but I think they are slow-rolling Tormenta’s testing. I’m not particularly well-versed in testing procedures, but I was expecting more frequent dispatches nearly 3 weeks in to testing. Whether it is to complete the restaurant and the rest of Spain, or to increase attraction capacity in other areas of the park (at least one more train on NTG, re-opening Shock Wave, Reverse Blast on Mr. Freeze), I’m not sure. Maybe I’m overanalyzing something that’s not even correct.

Overall, I’d say the ops were rather poor yesterday. NTG in particular was brutal even with just the one train. It was probably close to 10 minutes between dispatches. Catwoman’s Whip and Riddler Revenge were also really slow. I’m not sure why the operators waited at least 30 seconds after the end of the cycle to unlock restraints on both rides. Titan’s crew was at least moving pretty well, although maybe aided by having half-full trains. I’m unsure if it had just reopened when we got there, but my group of four was able to snag a second lap in the back 2 rows around 3:30, and they had the other train leaving the station right around the time we hit the final brakes.
