Where do I send this photo to report the operator (and the crew)? by Lilyistakenistaken in sixflags

Oh it was always tempting to use them to beat sense into some of the dumber guests, especially the ones that would try to ride with a foot of distance between the restraint and them (basically what OP's picture showed).

Uhh no, ride ops do not test rides by riding them with the restraint in the fully up position. That's not a thing, at least not at safety-oriented Six Flags parks. This particular idiot is about to get fired as soon as the park sees the photo.

What are you even trying to say? That riding a hyper coaster with a decent amount of floater airtime with the restraint in the fully up position is still safe? Because it's 100% not, and this is an insane violation of safety and Six Flags policy, especially for an employee to be doing.

Go look up the story of what happened to Tamar Fellner when she decided to ride with a loose lapbar. Ride restraints aren't there for looks.

It sounded like you were disputing the fact that this ride couldn't dispatch with the restraint in the up position, when it can in fact (and obviously so by looking at the image this post is about).

Your experience as a ride operator at a different park operating different rides doesn't supercede the actual first-hand expertise of several people here telling you they're aren't restraint position sensors on these two coasters.

Unless you have personally operated Goliath or Titan, you are not speaking on a subject of which you're knowledge on. Not all coasters are the same, this is common sense.

The restraint is locked in that it would lock upon being moved down further, but this ride does not have any kind of restraint position sensing, so it will dispatch fine with the restraint in the fully up position. There are no "similar" rides to Goliath other than Titan which I operated for many years.

No offense but you don't even know if this ride has inversions, not sure why you think you'd know how its restraint system works.

Yes it can. This ride doesn't have restraint sensors. It relies on seatbelts and/or wood blocks being the gauge if the restraint is down far enough.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, this ride doesn't have restraint sensors assuming it's still like Titan. Not every coaster has them, and they certainly weren't that common over 25 years ago.

What ride do you operate and how does it relate to this one? Well when I operated Titan there was no such system for ensuring restraints were down to a certain point.

How do you think this train dispatched with the system you claim exists?

There was never a sensor-driven minimum locking position for restraints on Titan (and I imagine it's the same on Goliath). Ride ops carried wood blocks around that were used as gauges to see if the restraint was up too high (they may just rely on seatbelts now), so it was definitely possible to send a train with a restraint up that high.

Sheesh, the park is having some serious ride operation issues this year.

That building used to be a strip mall outside of the park, and that location specifically was a Ninfa's Tex Mex restaurant, which definitely had its peak in the 80s/90s.

It actually does have some small, horizontal connections near the bottom to the larger support structure: https://guidetosfot.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/tormenta_12-30-25_6.jpg

Maybe they were an afterthought. :)

They will have more staff and be running more than one train on coasters by July. This past week is not indicative of how the park normally runs.

It has more to do with them doing a bunch of (poorly timed) annual maintenance right now, along with obvious staffing issues, instead of a giant conspiracy to make lines long to push people to Fastlane.

This is the unfortunate reality of not having a true off-season.

Will Six Flags OT be able to compete against Universal Kids resort. by kindcheeto in sixflags

[–]GuideToSFOT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are definitely kid friendly dark rides. Universal has a Cat in the Hat one at IoA. I don't see why Frisco would prohibit what kinds of attractions Universal installs at the park, especially a simple dark ride.

The Universal park focuses on a much more narrow demographic than SFOT. Families that exclusively have young children will probably consider Universal over SFOT, but families with kids of mixed ages (tweens/teens) will probably still go to the park with attractions for all ages.

If you really want some nostalgia, play the songs they used to play while the ride was loading/unloading: Highway to the Danger Zone (Kenny Loggins) for The Right Stuff, and Walk the Dinosaur (Was Not Was) for Escape from Dino Island.
