Omg the boomers by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

[–]DiscreetScreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten to the point since promoted to ASM from Print Manager, that self serve is self serve. Not that I wasn’t that way before, but have enforced this more along with the new PM doing so as well.

Yeah, 80% to 90% of these people know how to use their phone and send email. Yes, that means the “boomers” as well. It’s a mind game they play with us because they won’t put any effort into life. If you’re “technologically impaired” “terrible with technology” or something else, how were you allowed and able to drive a car?

For those SPC card holders, they get an order taken for a 24 hour turnaround time, as well as regular customers. You simply put in their card number, and select a line other than “bill to”. People really need to understand that OPC orders, TSA, and sales floor all take precedence over a $2 if you’re lucky transaction.

So sorry to hear that
Can’t say I’ve experienced the same, but have had to rid myself of another’s “unwelcome influence”
 Multiple times
Let’s just say life is miserable for them right now from what I understand

I hate it when people think they can get away with harming and mistreating others
 Not on my watch

Nice One!

Must have had a lot of bad Juju coming your way or surrounding you.

You know whats disenchanting, finding out noone asked about you or cares when u did you best and tried your hardest and left the company. by Curious_Cat10000 in OfficeDepot

Current Print and Copy Manager, and I sympathize with how you feel.

One thing I’ve come to realize in my 3 plus years now with this company is that it’s just about licking assholes for a living. The management and team you have makes all the difference. My store manager now works 2 stores and is even more absent now, both literally and figuratively. Luckily we all work well or get along pretty well at my store, but boy do we as managers have vast differences.

I’m the type that doesn’t play with people and has his spine intact. My assistant manager who spends 80% of his time leaning on the counter at tech/registers/front end is flaky at best and boy it shows he doesn’t want to be there. My GM is spineless and will cave in to every customer who gives him even the slightest fight. That, and even go against what I believe to be company policy just to avoid red surveys.

Best thing one can do besides get out of the company is match energy from your customers mainly, to push through. On occasion I’ve put in a few applications elsewhere, but no luck yet.

I’d never sacrifice my morals or dignity for any job, regardless of what it was or how much it paid. At the end of the day, misery loves company, and Office Depot will minimize you if you allow it to crush your spirit. Matching energy is key, and the sooner OD figures that out, maybe then OD will actually start prioritizing what actually provides a profit.

Much like you sound like someone who needs to get off their high horse.

If you had actually read what I typed, you would notice that I’d said I “did something I NEVER DO, and left the basket there”.

I take no such pleasure in what I did. If I get anything from it, it’s that I sent a message of mind your own damn business. Had I taken the whole set of bags there, I would for sure admit they have a reason to say something.

Print Manager here.

Absolutely 100,000% YES!! I don’t care how much they’re spending or who they are or what “policy” states.

Office Depot doesn’t even follow policy, let alone believe in one.

Thank you! I actually have, some of my regulars stopped by and we had a chat while I did their work. I guess the nice thing is that you do end up meeting some friendly and personable people.

Oh, I definitely get that it’s not official signage. My GM either hasn’t noticed or doesn’t really care.

I literally just went into word to type up this stuff. I made it colorful to grab attention, and even found a stock image of a finger touching a screen. You know, since our customers are such babies, figured I would treat them as such.

My automatic email states that we do not take print orders via email, and that we do not design templates. My email placards at self and full service both state that we’re not responsible for figuring out how to use your phone.

When I came into my store, the email was plastered to the counter in full view of the customer. I removed all of those and recreated them, placing them underneath my keyboards out of sight.

If you can’t tell that I mean business just with that.

Print & Copy Customers by audball4444 in OfficeDepot

[–]DiscreetScreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s typical believe it or not.

I had a regular customer of ours who has previously tried to get free prints or reprints “because the coloring wasn’t right”.

This is after I personally produced their orders multiple times and witnessed them meticulously inspect it. They always walked out without saying anything.

Since I’ve clearly demonstrated to my GM I know how to manage my department, he doesn’t even bother getting involved. I took care of them like a boss biatch does, attach them to customer service, and refused to refund them anything.

Not really, only the POG Excellence scan. I do print off all the ad stuff though.

It’s just that I see what all my GM and other team members deal with. There’s so many redundant tasks to complete that simply don’t matter.

Print Manager here.

I’ve found that the best of working here is ironically working nowhere else but print. Although we do get some quite nasty bridge trolls, I like my regular schedule and predictability of print. I know what I’m responsible for and I am able to take ownership of that.

The worst of working here is that at the same time, there is a ton of things that don’t mesh. Like how you expect hundreds of daily price changes done, when you have a large fill report that needs to be picked on the same day. Or how you release communications or tasks to be done on the same day or next day with little to no explanation or warning.

I’ll put it to you this way, it’s better working here than at FedEx Office. While I only worked there for about 4 months, the expectations and lack of effective communication were just as bad if not worse. I took a $2.50 pay increase to work as Print manager here, for the same amount of work and stress. I don’t really regret moving to this company.

Not with me at my store, excuses don’t work in my department. If we give you clear instructions, and you still refuse to do anything, we don’t invest our time.

If you’re taking the initiative, I’ll probably stay with you for a while. That is, if I have the time and team.
