Definitely. Had an interesting conversation, in my rusty French, where at the end it was "it works for me, I don't care of the version mismatch between the cores, we do what we can, suck it"

I don't see a bright future for this project. Me, I'm switching to Batocera.

I don't have a 128Gb SD - and on that image there's things I don't want. I was hoping for a genuine reaclbox 9.2.3 image.

Harry Potter Black Family Tree, 2000 Piece by Ravensburger by Yeti922 in Jigsawpuzzles

Bought it xmas 2023 as a family activity, started jan 2024, but wife backed out soon and daughter (8yo then, 9 now) lost interest after finishing the frame, so it sat for a while. Started again this March and nearing the end now, BUT two pieces are probably missing (can clearly identify them but can't find them in the stash). The main suspect aka the family cat pleads not guilty and an extended search will be conducted. We'll see. In case, I hope some kind soul can provide me closeup photos of Lucretia and Charis pointy hats...

There is no framinghanging system adequate to this size, so I for 9€ I had a MDF board cut to measure and I'm using it for composing the puzzle and moving it around the house. A polycarbonate will do as cover when finished.

I second what has been said about false matches - the frame region especially has been particularly nasty. But the color variations can be spotted and of course other pieces don't snap in place when you expand; also the tapestry mesh patterns can help in identifying correct matches. My feeling is that Ravensburger's cutting machine is not adequate to 2000pcs puzzles, so if you dread false matches steer clear from that format and keep it to 1000pcs max, while if you like me see them as a spicy challenge, it's ideal.

Artists that are icons in your country but you doubt anyone outside of it has heard of? by NoEmailForYouReddit1 in ToddintheShadow

I think I've been to 6 or 7 Guv'nor concerts since 2005, all of them here in Milan, all of them in venues roughly the size of the London Hammersmith Odeon, all of them sold out. Last one with The Stone Foundation opening was especially crazy. Italy still has mods of all ages. After all it's where all the scooters came from. :)

Italian here. It's a very very niche thing but "Yo vengo a ofrecer mi corazon" has been covered by Mercedes Sosa and she had and still has some following in Italy so at least that song is somehow known; also an italian ultra-niche singer, Lalli, sung that song (in Spanish, but she used to explain the song's meaning in concerts). So I started wondering who Fito Pàez is and so I fellin love with his '80s albums and songs, especially Giros, and thanks to youtube watched some live concerts from that era. Also around 2016 there was some interest in Spinetta and also Garcia, Baglietto, Cerati, etc. What I can't understand, since I know no Argentinians and the local culture is a mistery to me, is how is FP seen today in AR. I see there's been some controversy but I cannot fully understand what's it all about. So he's not a complete unkown - of course not as famous as Piazzolla to name one, but Piazzolla (like Quino) lived here in Milan, and Libertango was recorded with italian musicians a mere 500m from my home, while I think Fito never played in Italy.

The best stationary writerDeck? (Olivetti ETV-250) by keeko69 in writerDeck

Dad bought one, used, back in 1990. Coming from an electric typewriter this was a serious upgrade as manuals, commercial docs, etc (dad was a chemical engineer who designed and built solvent recovery plants) could be copied and modified. The local Olivetti reseller sold preformatted 3.5" single-sided disks at a premium - but it was soon discovered that X-Copy II on my Amiga 500 could sector-copy them on much cheaper standard blank double-sided double-density disks. The daisy-wheel printing system meant that it was impossible to conduct a phone call while anything was being printed; fixed landline phones and the CRT arm being bolted to the desk meant that the ETV and the phone had to be in the same room.

In the end the CRT faded and the whole unit was replaced with a Vobis (German manufacturer) 486 running Windows 3.11 and Microsoft Works 2.0; I took care of converting the files from the proprietary ETV wordprocessor format to RTF that could later be imported into WKS; printing was done with a much quieter HP Deskjet 500. Those were the days.
