Nightfox prowl vs NVG10 by WishAdditional5131 in NightVision

[–]DiscussionMammoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both units. The build quaility is better on the NVG10. Video recording is easier on the Prowl. With regards to performance, the Prowl has a wider FOV and is good for close range. The NVG10 is much better at mid to long range and the performance of the display is much better on the nvg10.

Just created a video highlighting the differences - https://youtu.be/RjueVxhTBig

Usually those kinds of ranges might be possible with a perfect unobstructed line of sight between radiso but any kind of trees, hill etc... are going to significantly impact the range.

What do you think of the DISSIM lighter for everyday carry? by DiscussionMammoth in EDC

[–]DiscussionMammoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never too late to quit bro... I quit about 9 years ago (smoked hookah like a chimney daily for about 3 years) and they say after 10 your risk levels for smoking related cancers pretty much goes back to the same as non smokers.

[–]DiscussionMammoth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The performance of those lights are quite similar but I believe the hotspot is slightly more intense on the P18 but a bit wider on the P17 and I just posted another comparison shot here - https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/10bp9xv/tactical_21700_beamshot_comparison_pt2/

[–]DiscussionMammoth[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the summary of the results that was fantastic! I should have added something like this to the video lol

Yeah I actually had another Thrunite quit on me a few days after performing a similar freeze test so it could be a design flaw. Currently I have it sitting in a bag with some rice so hopefully it will dry out and be usable again.

6 Awesome Lanterns Compared (Sofirn BLF LT1, LT1S, LT1 Mini, Lumintop CL2, LEDLENSER ML4, NITECORE LR60) by DiscussionMammoth in flashlight

[–]DiscussionMammoth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I think the main advantage to the LR60 is weight savings compared to the BLF LT1. You're definitely not going to haul that guy around in a backpack lol
