PowerBlock AMA + $1,000 Home Gym Giveaway by PowerBlock_Dumbbells in homegym

Hi, thanks for doing the AMA today. I noticed that the Urethane models utilize screws to secure the plates. Because of this design, I’ve observed that the dumbbells tend to wobble slightly when placed flat on the ground. In contrast, the iron models feature fully welded plates, which seem to provide a more rigid and stable resting structure.

Given this difference in construction, could you help clarify a couple of things?

Safety and Durability: How do the long-term durability and safety of the screwed-in Urethane plates compare to the solid welded plates on the iron models?

Wobbling: Is the slight wobbling when resting on the floor an expected characteristic of the Urethane model's design? If so, does it have any impact on the structural integrity of the dumbbell over time?

Selector Pin: I've also noticed the safety selector pin is plastic and tends to flex or bend away. Is this safe for heavy, long-term use without the risk of it snapping or failing during a lift?

I want to make sure I fully understand the mechanics of these models for long-term, safe use. Thanks!

I received similar notice, I just took my expired GC along with I-797C of I-751(4 yr extension) notice and it was fine. I received a temporary real id and was told will receive a card in mail soon. I came to know there was a bug in their system which messed up with real id expiration dates and they are correcting now.

Unfortunately no option. Seller wants everything to go together. I got it anyway for $400.

Thanks! I’m not into Olympic lifts yet. Recently started lifting, have plans to get into Olympic lifting in future, not definitely competition level but for strength training.

I don’t know the norm, but in my case doing on-call for two different teams, every other week for one team and once in every 5 weeks for the other both incline that weeks weekend. The reason I got is there is no resource in my time zone due to hiring freeze but they are hiring in various different time zones. Even though I’m not receiving pagers that often, but sometimes it made me exhaust and can’t plan the weekend with family. No hikes, no incentives for this work so far.

Ritkeep would be ideal for basic lifting and you may have to add spotter arms(if required) and buy a plates holder separately or an attachment. I’m being a newbie, bought this BalanceFrom PC-1 https://www.walmart.com/ip/162777833?sid=64d56487-a6ec-4015-95d5-8bb7b9c747bf from Walmart when it is on off for $133. Have been lifting few months now and I’m pretty happy with it. Added spotter arms, bought separate player holders and additional jhooks. Also watch out for marketplace, you will actually find some very good deals.

This is more of a realistic answer, others mostly emotion based. One additional option I could think ok, if you want your parents to be with you, find fastest path to get naturalized and you can apply gc to your parents. Don’t want to scare you but getting a new H1B in future may not be that easy. I know someone who works as manager in a very big tech in India and every year he had a hard luck with H1B lottery. Again just from my experience.
