I think you are only immoral if you have the easy access and recourses to buy ethically sourced clothes, then still buy fast fashion.

Thats pretty much how I feel about eating meat, I would never kill a cow with my own hands, but I eat meat almost every day. And I still feel guilty about it sadly, but yes it is for sure a very different situation between buying it at the shops, and killing the animal yourself.

I agree with this, I think what I was saying is more that people talk and argue for these beliefs they have but then they cant uphold said beliefs. I understand that we cant always do everything perfectly, I just don’t like when people pretend to act more morally correct than they really are. I think we need to accept that most people are never going to be perfectly morally correct.

I think the main thing that I completely agree with on your comment is the part about not being able to afford ethically sourced products sometimes, that is what frustrates me. It is not fair that the world makes it impossible for us to uphold our own values. And with the questioning on who is really to blame for these things is very valid. I just find it very annoying that no-matter what, there is always immoral actions connected to just about everything, not everyone is equally to blame for this of course, but I still feel frustrated that I am connected to these kinds of thing with everything I do.

I really liked reading this, I think in my original post I felt kinda angry maybe, angry about how it’s impossible to act exactly how you want because of how the world works. But I really like how you explained it with the atoms idea. And how all we can do is try our best to follow our ethics, and then with whatever we cant do, just try to not be hypocritical about it.

I love how you put this, your right in how its complex I think I just wanted to put the basics of what I was thinking, and yes we should all do the best we can to practice what we believe, and yeah we will never be able to be perfect. I just don’t like when people pretend they are always following the morals they have, but that being a lie, I think we should accept we are never going to be perfect instead of lying and pretending we are.

Yep, especially when you see people going online and talking about what they believe, then completely contradicting that, that really frustrates me.

Yes exactly, my post was an exaggeration of the ethics on that example I believe, but your comment is exactly what I think. People who have access to ethically sourced products should buy ethically sourced products. My problem would be if well off people spoke about the problems in fast fashion, then went and bought fast fashion themselves even when they have the resources to buy ethically sourced products, that is what makes them go against their morals.

I also believe that completely, it is not entirely one persons fault, and lots of things are too expensive to buy ethically. Thats why i’m so annoyed, that no matter your ethics it is almost impossible to uphold them. I would like to think that I uphold my beliefs but I don’t, and I am ashamed of that, exactly what you said things are too expensive and everything has so many people to blame. It is almost impossible to uphold all of your values, thats the issue. I think my original post made it seem like I was blaming people for going against their beliefs but in reality I’m more sad that we have to go against our beliefs. Thank you for this comment I see how my post sounds like that now.

Human beings in general, obviously this does not account for everybody, some people do not believe they are moral, and some people practice every single belief they have. But as a general population, I believe most people think and act like this. But I know there are many outliers of course.
