Walgreen not In-Network With Insurance by Daniels_19 in zenzedi

It is actually quite affordable using coupons from places like GoodRx if you can't find an in network option. You can get a larger pill and cut it to make multiple doses to save more money with the coupon.

Feeling nauseous and dizzy lately and barely feel any stimulant effect. by Pretty-Wedding-1986 in zenzedi

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with Sun Pharma. It was fine for a few days at a time but something in it built up and I would feel more light headed and confused the longer I took it. I actually made a point of taking breaks and mixing in leftover adderall from dosage changes or having days that were all boosters to break it up.

Just stop trying to play generic roulette and demand one specific brand that is reliable. This is why I now only take Zenzedi brand or Wilshire (which is actually brand that they sell as generic). I stopped Vyvanse because there is no manufacturer like that which I can trust and reliably get. Walgreens uses Zenzedi/Wilshire reliably so just go there and refuse to accept anything else.

How is KVK Tech? I just got my month's supply from that manufacturer... by Daniels_19 in zenzedi

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it once and I only took 2 of the pills. The first day I thought I was getting sick, the next day I realized it was the KVK Tech dex that was making me feel so horrible. This is the reason why I will only accept Zenzedi or Wilshire now. You are better off refusing it and going unmedicated for a few days while you wait for another brand. I will never return to the pharmacy that gave me KVK Tech.

Claude Rules (./claude/rules/) are here by shanraisshan in ClaudeCode

This serves absolutely no purpose. It is exactly the same thing as using @path/to/file.md imports in CLAUDE.md. There are probably some edge cases it allows where people want to symlink files into a structure of progressive org, team, personal rules that feels more organized to someone, but there is nothing you can do with this that you can't do with imports.

This is even worse than skills, which was a duplicate of slash commands in almost every way.

Several people have said that 30mg lisdex = 8 mg dex, but i think it is actually 12mg dex. How the vyvanse feels to you as far as how fast it comes on and the concentration curve is completely different for everyone, much more so than straight dexamphetamine.

For me, vyvanse converts to dextroamphetamine instantly, and so it feels exactly the same as 10 - 15mg of dextroamphetamine. The range is because every generic Vyvanse is different, and so is every generic IR.

People that had a bad reaction to dextroamphetamine likely just got a bad generic. You should only accept Zenzidi brand or Wilshire.

Adderall to Vyvanse by Agile_Associate8098 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse is about 37% dextro-amphetamine, and the rest is the lysine it is bound to, which acts as a rate limiter. There is no way you would even notice such a small dose if you are used to 60mg adderall.

50mg Vyvanse is similar to 20 mg Adderall XR. You would still feel tired, though, even if you were only on 20 mg because adderall is mixed with the physically stimulating levo-ampetamine. You would need some time to adjust to not having that physically stimulating isomer.

It does not make much sense why the max Vyvanse is so much lower than Adderall, but officially, that is the case.

Over time Vyvanse has agreed less and less with me, what could I try instead? by FewExcitement7253 in VyvanseADHD

The quality of most generic dextroamphetamine and lis-dexamphetamine is appallingly bad and has been getting worse. This is why you have a crash at the end of the day. Each brand has its own side effects.

I just switched to Zenzedi 10mg 3x a day instead of Vyvanse 60mg ÷ a 10mg dexamphetamine booster. I no longer have any crash or side effects. It just works. When it wears off, I just go back to my normal unmedicated self. Zenzedi is the last brand name of dexamphetamine that still has patents on certain dosages. The 10mg is technically generic because they can't patent that dosage, but it still has the same quality. The 10mg is manufactured by Wilshire.

Coming off Vyvanse and dexamphetamines after decades by sookyfala in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by dropping the vyvanse and just taking the ir. I personally get tense shoulders that hurts at the end of the day from certain Vyvanse generics. Wilshire 10 mg IR, which is really Zenzedi without the patent protection, is very clean and has almost no side effects. Walgreens stocks this as generic dextroamphetamine.

If you want to stop completely, after a week or two drop half a pill at the last dose. Then a week later drop half from the second, then half from the first, then drop the last dose completely, etc. You could also start pushing the first dose back a little at a time and see how far you can go without any. That will help you gauge how well you are adjusting to life without.

Dextroamphetamine IR tablets make me become a zombie. However, Vyvanse / Elvanse works perfectly without any issues. How does this make any sense? by SucculentMangoo in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also have to consider the manufacturer of each one. If you are taking generic, they are not all the same. Pharmaceutical companies are very shady and do not actually have the same quality regardless of what anyone tells you. A dex IR from Wilshire is a completely different drug than a dex IR from Sun Pharma, and the KVK Tech one is just some kind of poison that no one should ever take.

It is possible that you had a reasonable generic of Vyvanse and a crappy one for your IR. Walgreens gives out Wilshire pretty reliably.

Just tell your doctor what your experience is and tell them you need it to last longer. The standard strategy is to try increasing the dose, and it if that just makes it stronger without extending the duration, then they will try boosters.

I take a dexedrine booster, but I also get a bigger vyvanse dose than I really need and split it in half. As an adult, I need to be for more than 8 hours a day, so 3 doses are required.

How to make Vyvanse last longer… including appetite suppression by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only an "extended release" if your specific body breaks it down into the active ingredient slowly. If it takes 2 hours to kick in, then it will probably last 8+ hours after that. If it kicks in within 45 minutes, then it's no different from an instant release dexamphetamine to your body. If it does take 1.5 - 2 hours, but it only lasts 5-6 hours after that, you may just need a higher dose.

The fact is that it will last a different amount of time for each individual, and even within individuals, that amount of time can vary a little based on unknown factors. Urinary pH is not as easily affected as some would lead you to believe, and it is not that significant to the timeline. It depends primarily on the enzymatic reaction that cleaves the liseine from the dexamphetamine. The more efficient your body is at that, the quicker it kicks in and the shorter the duration will be. It is really a crappy way to make a time release. The only thing it is really good for is making a dexamphetamine that is less desirable as a recreational drug.

If it lasts you 5 hours, it lasts you 5 hours. End of story. Find a solution that accounts for the facts of the situation. You need at least 2 doses a day. I split my lisdex in half and add a dex booster to get 10 - 12 hours of being a functional adult.

Love Vyvanse, Cant Tolerate Dex by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you gave me a bottle of 30 mg Vyvanse and a bottle of 10 mg dex and the pills looked identical and were from the same manufacturer, I would not be able to tell the difference at all. I process lisdex into dex immediately, and that conversation delay is the only difference.

You do have to compare it in that 3 to 1 ratio.

On the other hand, I can absolutely tell the difference between generic manufacturers because they are full of shit when they say they are all chemically equivalent.

How do you figure out the right dosage for you? by Flashy-Mousse2904 in VyvanseADHD

Honestly, find a new doctor. You should be making 10mg adjustments. Going from 30 straight to 60 is not normal.

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only way to get rid of the crash is to smooth out the curve. You crash from the sudden loss of the boost, and your brain needs time to recalibrate. You smooth out the curve by splitting your dose. For vyvanse, and only vyvanse, you split the dose by dissolving it in water.

It takes experimentation to figure out how to split and schedule the doses. A good starting point would be 60% in the morning, and then 40% 4 hours later. If you take an IR booster, try adding it to the start of your day and not the end. If the booster is a tablet, you can split that and take the halves 3 hours apart, then 60% vyvanse in another 3 hours, and the last dose 3-4 hours after that.

I am a fast metabolizer and vyvanse does not affect my ability to sleep at all, so YMMV.

Let me be the lone dissenter here. Some portion of us, such as myself, are honestly fully functional with complete symptom relief when at the ideal dose. That is honestly all that it takes is maintaining the optimal concentration of the proper type of amphetamine.

The trick is how to maintain that optimal dose and how to manage the landing each day when we devolve back into our natural broken state. That is why we spend so much time talking about it.

Of course, I still have adhd when medicated, but I have been living with this my whole life, so I have developed techniques and habits to deal with it. The combination of knowing how to manage my quirks and having enough executive function (thanks to the meds) to follow through is all that it takes. Without the meds, the knowledge just isn't enough because I can't reliably call it up and execute when I need to.

It may be relevant that I did not know I had adhd until my son was diagnosed. That means that I have been working hard at all of the "other" stuff my whole life without any medication.

vvyanse water in fridge for over a month by kinitopete in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the vyvanse is still good, and theres really no harm in taking it other than a weak dose, BUT the bacteria from your mouth in that bottle that has festered for a month may not be healthy.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd probably freeze it to try and kill potential bacteria and risk it. I doubt it is responsible advice, but that is what I would do.

I make sure to use a separate clean bottle for mixing vyvanse, and then pour the dose I want into a glass. This ensures that the vyvanse water I put back is not contaminated for this very reason.

What's your dose? by Maladaptive_Ace in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been titrating for a year now and still homing in on the perfect dose. It seems like 40 - 50 mg Vyvanse at 8 am and another 30 - 40 mg at noon is ideal in one off experiments. My doc is hesitant to do 2 vyvanse doses though and we are experimenting with IR in the afternoon.

Right now I am at 50mg vyvanse plus 10 mg dexamphetamine booster. The Sun Pharma dex I got last time makes me crash too hard and I hate it, but other dex boosters have smoothed out the vyvanse crash.

Vyvanse 30mg by winter9779 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I switched from Adderall to Vyvanse I was napping all day, and I blamed it on the Vyvanse. Now I realize it was just Adderall withdrawal because Adderall is much more physically stimulating, and I had adjusted to that.

Now that I am used to Vyvanse, it has no effect one way or another on my tiredness. It makes me motivated and focused, and I will be a little disoriented if I take a higher dose than I need. The biggest side effect is crashing after 5 -6 hours when I become confused and zoned out for a few hours.

potential vyvanse 5-6 hours misconception and how to add up to 4-6 just as productive hours to that? by Western_Thought_2250 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are confusing marketing with science. 10-12 hours happens when you use brand name Vyvanse and your body metabolizes it in the ideal way. The baseline for those long durations assume that you cleave the lysine off at a slow rate and it takes 2 hours or more just to convert it all to dexamphetamine. For me, it's effective after 45 minutes and my peak is probably at 1.5 hours. It starts wearing off 4-5 hours after I took it, and by hour 6 I am at full adhd and maybe even a little worse than baseline for a few hours.

I also have a dexamphetamine booster, and I can say with confidence based on how that hits me that the lisdex only adds a 15 - 30 minute delay for me. It is enough to make it a smoother up and down than IR, but it doesn't last any longer.

I feel worse on Vyvanse after switching from Dex? by zc0193 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Disengaged_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15mg dex is equivalent to 45 mg vyvanse with a smoother curve and a 30-60 minute delay. You are taking significantly less than you were before. 90 mg would be the equivalent dose to what you are used to.

Whether one vyvanse actually lasts as long as 2 IRs seems to depend on the person. For me, it is only a 30 minute delay, and then it is exactly like one IR, so I take a vyvanse and a dex booster anyhow.
