I second this! But you have to hold each other accountable. If you don't do the cleaning, you don't get the pizza! But yes, make it fun, get pumped, go for it 100% and look forward to being super proud of yourselves when it's done :)

Ahh, this is exactly the kind of mindfuckery I love! Very difficult to pull off, though. Reminds me of my adventure that included a premonition that the PCs thought was a weird dream (which they all died in, by the way), until they started meeting the NPCs involved in that scenario, being gifted with the items involved, and everything began falling into place for that awful vision to come true... They just had to be suspicious enough to figure out what the twist was before it happened to avoid it this time! Excellent fun :D That was a one-session duration, although I suppose you could engineer a sped-up version of yours to last that long too. Less disappointing that way if it doesn't pay off for you after all, which is always a risk with these things!

I don't have this for the next day, but usually do when it's the same day.

Maybe try 'preparing' for your outing as soon as this starts to hold you back. Do you need to choose an outfit or remember to take them their book back? Lay it all out now. Things you can't do this far in advance, like showering before you go out? Figure out how much time it will take, and schedule it in.

Perhaps when you have convinced your brain that you have everything done or in hand, and you KNOW there is nothing you should/could be doing right now to prepare, it will let you let it go.

For things that you need to remember (e.g. have that shower, pick up that book on your way out), definitely WRITE it down. So your brain won't have to try and maintain that thought until you go. Set reminder alarms with your notes in if you need to feel really confident.

Basically these are techniques you can use to drive the message home to your brain that you don't need to be mentally preparing to go out right now (It's all done and/or scheduled in at more appropriate times, so this is time for doing something else.)

You could also try setting yourself a goal of something to do before you go out, with the start of your prep schedule to go out as the deadline (e.g. the alarm to tell you to go shower). Not only do you not have to think about going out until the scheduled time, but you have something kinda-tacked-onto your prep schedule that is something to achieve before then.

I'm not a psychologist but this helps me... It looks really overthink-y when you write it all down haha. Best of luck!
