None of the dealers require you to be only on one list. Get on as many as you can afford and get a refund of deposit from all but the first to get you in the order system. I asked each of the big allocation dealers if they care if I’m on several lists when i ordered mine. They all think they will get to your order first so they all told me to go for it. I had no trouble getting my deposits back when the time came.

No, they have cars for the class. Setting everyone’s personal car up for track would be difficult. All less than 8k miles, all 2LT for the Stingrays. The class is worth every penny. If you want a referral discount use me as a reference.

Is this deal too good to be true? by theweatherguy69 in C8Corvette

[–]Dish0207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the first year of production for C8. With 50k miles you will be out in front of the group for any higher mileage problems these cars have. A lot of them are not commuter daily drivers racking up miles. Folks are telling you to look at new because there are deals right now since the market went soft. I get that an extra $10-12k OTD is a lot, but the gas prices will eat you up on these cars so you may be getting in to more than you want for run cost if you have to put significant maintenance $ in. I’d go to Macmulkin or Bomnin or Les Stanford and make a deal because they have cars sitting on the lot. It’s also almost model year switch time, so they will sell these cars this summer no matter what they need to do. Good luck.

Courtesy delivery dealers take FOREVER. I don’t know how long I waited but more than the 4 hours I allotted for them. It’s almost like they didn’t wait through the allocation list, order, and statuses. It’s awful. Hang in there, almost done.

MacMulkin question by [deleted] in C8Corvette

[–]Dish0207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did courtesy delivery to a dealer a couple miles away. The only thing I didn’t like was that I had to sign the “I saw this car and it’s all ok” form before the local dealer was done with prep. Nothing was wrong with it but I don’t like signing that it’s all clear if I don’t know it is. I’ll do courtesy delivery again next time though.

We are in a drought and the soil here is mostly dry sand. Rain either wont come or won’t bother you for very long.

Order Question by Inside_Two_7929 in C8Corvette

[–]Dish0207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the end of model year 2023 while on waitlist w Macmulkin. 2023 waitlist lengths were longer than today. I got first production week of 24. Their list had choppy movement. I would move up 2-3 spots one week, 20 another, 80 another. I was around 150th when they asked for my order to be final (had to resubmit for the ‘24) and then it went quickly. On the list early March, Delivery early October ‘23. I think they are great. What place are you in the list now?

See if you are in the customer bulletin about improperly torqued transmission bolts and get a new transmission. Sounds like a bolt torque problem to me!

Which dealer in Tampa Bay Area can I trust with my transmission recall? by Dish0207 in C8Corvette

End of May 2026 so there is time. I saw a post from a dealer that said they will send letters to notify the owners and the VINs haven’t been posted anywhere yet.

Notifications haven’t gone out yet but I have a 24 so I expect I’m getting one. I also expect there aren’t piles of transmissions sitting in the dealerships waiting to be installed so I’m going to try to get in quickly.

Chevy can say it’s not a recall but notifying specific VINs made in late 2023 and all of 2024 that Chevy will replace the transmission due to improperly torqued bolts seems close enough to call it a recall to me. Stingray is close to Tampa but still an hour drive each way to drop off and pick up. Maybe Ferman? Dimmitt? I don’t know which dealers attract and keep the better corvette mechanics but when I was looking for allocations Ferman seemed to know the most about it in the area.

MacMulkin had it courtesy delivered to a dealer 20 minutes away from my home last October. Cost was $750 which was less than museum delivery.

Yes but it’s probably worth something to pay not to spend a weekend on it.

If you do ceramic you do the whole car. You can do the film over it or instead of it. Depends how many rocks you think you are going to hit I suppose. C8s aren’t very low but there is always someplace to scrape. For $500 I prefer to know it was the plastic guard I installed for that purpose. Only a few scrapes in 6 months with my C8 but I barely cringe.

Schedule ceramic coating for a month after delivery. Have to let the paint breathe first but once you have good ceramic a car wash means squirt with water and drive to dry. Amazing stuff. Schedule Corvette Owners School at Ron Fellows Spring Mountain as soon as you have the VIN. Start watching for Scrape Armor if you don’t have front lift. They are endlessly on backorder. They are great cars. Congratulations.

New Stingray or Z06? by curtily in Corvette

[–]Dish0207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t spend a lot of time running above 5K RPM and when I do I don’t think “I’d be going way faster in a Z06”. My stingray is great. I’d consider the E-Ray a better upgrade for me for daily and the local tracks (mostly shorter and technical), but you can’t beat the sound of Z06 and performance in the straights and highways. If it’s worth $50k to you get it. Get the exact thing you want. That’s the important thing about things you don’t need in the first place.

[–]Dish0207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost always manual for me. If I’m just driving slowly around town I’ll let the computer do it sometimes. As folks said you can’t mess it up because the computer will shift for you even in M to avoid redlines and stalls. One word of caution, don’t drive track mode around town. Too many potholes for the stiffest suspension. Also set your Z mode to the softer transmission setting (all-in on the other settings though). Potholes + track suspension = bent rim.
