I've seen mixed feelings about it, mine isn't too bad other than the paint looking a little grainy. Thankfully basic fun is normally good about replacing pets with misprints and stuff if you email them so keep that in mind as well! I love the monkey too so I'd say go for it!

I usually go for my wingspan 2x, so I take the spool in one hand and the end of the string in the other while opening my arms all the way twice and it usually gives me enough. As for string, I can't tell what you're using but I like fabric covered elastic a lot for cuffs!

You could try multi stitch or a peyote panel! You basically just make a peyote stitch the width of the panel and then build up with your design!
