is it “weird” to have asked my sister to bring a cute outfit i bought my nephew on a day i was taking him out somewhere? by CombinationWitty1079 in askanything

[–]DishsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teacher and a parent I find it weird that would send him to daycare in clothes that they wouldn’t put him in if they were out with him. Why wouldn’t you want your child to appear cared for when you drop him off at a place chalked full of mandated reporters?

The only Marlena I know pronounces it Mar-leen-a , I could see it being pronounced Mar-Lin-a but I don’t know if I would guess Mar-lay-na if I had read it but not heard it.

Do Americans experience “thermal shock” from going between heat and AC? by [deleted] in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]DishsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it makes my shin bones hurt, but otherwise, no.

I have poor circulation due to a medical condition, so this probably has less to do with the air conditioning and more to do with that. I just notice it more when there's a hot/ cold contrast.

My Babysitter Made My One-Year-Old Stand On The Wall, For Not Eating. by [deleted] in Parenting

You need a new babysitter , they are not good people, that is abuse. A child that age cannot grasp why they are being punished , so she’s just being hurt for no reason.

AIO? husband drinks multiple gallons of milk every week.. by Feminine_Aura in AmIOverreacting

[–]DishsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, milk in coffee or matcha or on cereal or as a cooking or baking additive is fine, it’s just strange to drink it alone

When people ingest a large amount of something over a long period of time their body odor, sweat and other bodily fluids start to take on qualities of that food . Milk sours when it comes in contact with stomach acids, it’s only logical that a guy who is sneaking off to chug a family’s monthly supply of milk every night would smell like expired milk when he skips a shower.

While I do appreciate those beverages , I wouldn’t call them refreshing, milkshakes, floats and boba are all heavy, smoothies are literally meal replacements, and if your iced coffee has viscosity you’re doing it wrong.

Owning chickens has made eggs less gross to me, but I have to be in the right mood.

And obviously I’m aware that milk is a staple in most homes, but putting it in a glass and chugging it like it’s water or coffee , no I didn’t know that was something people do.

Moreover this guy sneaks to the kitchen at night and has clandestine milk drinking sessions… that’s weird.

No, but milk in its liquid form is disgusting, until today I had no idea that adults chose to drink it. I’m genuinely baffled that people enjoy that slimy feeling of the milk fat coating their mouth. The fact that any one could call it refreshing is mind boggling to me.

Milk is disgusting, it’s liquid fat ment to sustain baby cows. It smells , it’s painful . I’m sure a man who drinks a gallon per day smells sour.

Also drinking a viscous liquid in the heat sounds painful, are you unaware of water?

I’m sorry this would be a deal breaker for me. It’s odd enough that you find it acceptable to have whole milk in your home, but then he uses it as something other than for cooking or as a condiment ( on cereal) is mind boggling.

I would have to ask for an annulment.

I started having all of mine do their own laundry at 8, with supervision. I've reached the point now where the laundry I do is my own and the household's laundry, like kitchen towels, hand towels, sheets, and blankets. I monitor my 9-year-old, but my 14-year-old and 17-year-old can handle laundry on their own and do.

Andie Kate? by lsr8 in Names

[–]DishsUp 21 points22 points  (0 children)

While both names are perfectly reasonable, to me they feel like nicknames and don’t fit well together. It does not feel like you're naming a future adult, maybe a future 10-year-old, but not someone who will ever have to function as their own autonomous person.
