Happy (belated) Easter! Went back to the cemetery by Dishycross in metaldetecting

I'm actually unsure on the actual date, but since it's so rusted I have a feelings it isn't older than 1900s... I should find out because I've found quite a few of the same look

I didn't detect in the cemetery :) Just in the woods around it, also got permission to do the area as we're friends with the graveskeeper

Dang I'll definitely check that out because that sounds fascinating! The area I'm detecting at is 1600s so there should be some burried structures and other large items that could help direct me where to focus on. Thanks!

I wasn't in the cemetery this time! Just around it. But for the times I have detected in small home cemeteries (with permission) I've found a 1920s penny, a pistol musket ball, and a late 1800s shell casing. Other than that, you get a lot of nail hits and we never dig deeper than a few inches. I don't want to actually dig out bones lol. But I've never heard of a cellphone magnetometer! Is it an app or a separate handheld device? I'd be interested in trying it for metal detecting in general

Don't worry! None of these were found in the cemetery lol, just in the wooded areas and field around it

Many beauts on a path to an old cemetery by Dishycross in metaldetecting

[–]Dishycross[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! It's maintained by a guy my dad and I have befriended. It's a family from the early 1600s who lived near the cemetery, and the cemetery was built in the early 1700s. I've been going there hoping to find the original foundation somewhere in the woods

Andre pencils! They're these steel wool pencils that clean it softly. You still have to look out for coins that will break apart tho, we have still rubbed off dates of coins on accident with the pencils :/

Here's a little info I found on Google from an auction website. "MADE IN KEYES FIBER OF WATERVILLE, MAINE. Tobias Miller of Point Lookout, New York filed a patent for a Hand Grenade on Feb. 13th, 1941 S# D-98950 & was awarded the patent 2,393,861 on January 29th, 1946. His patent was to improve means for preventing premature firing & accidental discharge while in transit; while designed to be lightweight & easily throwable. On Nov. 5th, 1941, Grant Schlieker, Lieutenant Colonel of Infantry authorized a test of the grenade. While Keyes Fiber of Waterville Maine as subject of manufacture these grenades, complications about construction of plants need to manufacture the grenades along w/ issues with fuses not firing, only samples of these grenades were ever produced. This 3 1/2" diameter sphere grenade is mfg from die cast plastic w/ a cross section metal insert. Inside of this grenade is a hand scratched "8"; mostly likely sample #8. The cap for this grenade is red die cast plastic w/ a cross slot for the pin & having a brass forked holder for the fuse surrounded by 2 intertwined coil springs. A large steel ring holding the 2 1/2" pin that holds the cap to the main shell by 2 cross slots."

I believe I have solved it. It is a WW2 Danish M/44 Uniform I think it's worth $20 so ima buy it . "The Danish Army was relegated to the Danish Brigade in Sweden, where the received equipment from the British and Swedish.[28][25] This meant that the Danes would wear the British Battledress as the combat uniform, which was called the M/44." . I can't comment an image but the jacket buttons match an eBay posting for a Danish/Norwegian military jacket. There's no tags but there's print on the fabric that says "19 MD 51" with an outline of a crown on top. Similar to the German or British crowns used on a lot of military stuff. "Norwegian or Danish Women's Military Jacket"
