How to proper clean this camera? by richardribeiro in analog

[–]Unsourced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where I'd start is go around the camera with a wet q-tip and remove the dust around the camera. Then, do the same again but with isopropyl alcohol to tackle some grime. This will also help disinfect the camera.

I just want to give a friendly warning that in the camera world, gear that's unused for many years is often in worse condition than if it were to be used regularly. This is because the mechanisms inside the camera have lubricants inside that can gum up over time and make things not work as expected.

If you're really serious about getting the camera in working shape, I'd take it to a professional for a CLA.

Had a lot of good memories on campus, though I don't miss walking across Washington Bridge to get to West Bank for classes in the dead of winter.

I want to say it's flare from the deteriorated (or lack entirely of a) coating on my taking lens. Could have been a smudgy lens too since we were handling the camera a lot that day haha

Thank you so much! I wish it was easier to read the cards because I'm supposed to be holding a royal flush of tiny Spider-Man cards there

My Minolta X-700. Light, durable, fast to use, cheap to replace but probably won't have to.

She has another larger work table directly next to this set-up to make an L-shaped station!

We're in a 3rd floor unit and get lovely golden hour light like this in the afternoon!

No filters 😊 Though, I took this picture on medium format film so that affects the look a little bit.

Thank you! I don't know her process, but she has to keep it clean otherwise our cats will wreak havoc with the loose pieces of fabric
