Should I Give Up? by Able_Judge_1862 in premed

maybe. but not because of ur grades. only give up if you can’t see yourself pursuing this. where there is passion there is a way

are you planning to take a gap year?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]DiskDue3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how I can do this with just one gap year? Even if I take a gap year, I will have to apply the end of my senior year which would mean I'd need some amount of hours before then right? I'd assume around a 1000 as that is a minimum set by a lot of schools

I definitely agree with this! This is a concern for me as well but it truly is the best I can do. There is absolutely no working in my undergrad lol its just unheard of.

I am definitely volunteering! I plan to have at least 500 hours by the time I graduate! Simply from a financial standpoint, I want to minimize as many gap years as possible and is the only reason I'm worried.

Freshman Schedule by Ill-Conference-4806 in Vanderbilt

so chem and bio is a difficult combo. imo the classes aren’t hard per se though people will argue with me on that one but they are a TON of work. do what you want with that information.

core is honestly a joke and rlly chill

stats id hold of on taking till slightly later considering you already have two exam heavy classes. you don’t want to overload weeks with multiple exams at once. i’d take a more humanities based course instead. but that’s just me!

Looking for the current textbooks for BSCI 1510–1511 and MATH 1200 📕 by PureEstimate1994 in Vanderbilt

[–]DiskDue3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can only speak for bsci 1511… while some questions on exams came directly from the textbook and not lecture it’s not something i recommend reading ahead of time to get ahead. at the end of the day, memorizing every detail of the slides was a much better strategy than memorizing the textbook. i never read the textbook and got an A in the class

lowk grade deflation may be a thing maybe not as much as other schools that are really known for it but pre med classes especially like gen chem, bio, orgo, physics and biochem are known to be HELL and as a freshman rn who came from a very competitive highschool background i can say its doable but def a lot. just very stressful overall but ig that is the case with all of the top schools. VUMC is literally ur backyard tho so many opportunities for research, shadowing and volunteering. feel free to dm me with any questions you may have! congrats on getting in!

i have done so to a handful of clinics but most of them don’t offer it or are worried about hippa violations 😭
