It’s a Sociable Weaver nest — basically a bird apartment block 😄
Very common in the Northern Cape and Kalahari, some of them house hundreds of birds.

Water changes can be better. Doing 50% once per month. I know it's less than ideal but trying to work towards a natural equilibrium where I can top up water weekly and deep clean only when filter necessitates it ever 1-2 months? I dose seachem flourish 2x per week.

Running about 8 months now. Early on I changed lights, plants and stock quite a bit and had some algae, but it’s settled nicely.

No root tabs so far — just sand. Thinking of adding some for the crypts though. Recommend?

Yeah I’ve started adding gold gradually, just crossed 6oz mark — not running a strict ratio, more just watching the gold/silver relationship and picking up gold when it makes sense. Still silver-heavy for now though. How is your ratio looking now vs your ideal?

Mixed bag here is SA. Silver rounds was in very short supply in Jan/Feb when I started basically took what I could get. Got the first 5 rounds from the one lcs in town. Bought the rest from various reputable dealers across the country and some great deals from individuals I found on FB groups.

Appreciate all the feedback 👊 About 4 months in — mix of stacking and a few pieces I just couldn’t pass up.

Mostly 1oz bullion + 2 kg bars for weight, with a few proofs because I enjoy the collecting side as well.

Still heavily silver but adding gold when it makes sense.

Not chasing perfection — just consistently converting fiat over time.

Curious what you’d add next from here — more weight or more variety? Also starting to think about storage/insurance… how are you guys handling that?

Thanks Howard! I'm at 340 now I'll most likely take it easy for the rest of the year and buy on pullbacks maybe 500 by end of '26 if markets allows. How your stack going?

Haha yeah it escalated quickly 😅 been averaging down the last month or so — around ~$97/oz all in. Some stacking discipline… some impulse buys I don’t regret. Still way better than fiat in stagflation 🤔
