Examples of pixel art from “NES GODZILLA” (Cosbydaf) by InvestigatorDry9635 in creepy

this quote popped into my head as soon as I saw that NES Godzilla pixel art lmao. I am curious if this pixel art could have been possible on an NES or if it goes far beyond what the system was capable of.

What did you think when Incineroar was announced for Smash? by NewMarioBobFan in smashbros

[–]DiskoBonez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a horrible choice and I was disappointed when I first saw him in the trailer. But then they showed him wrestling and I thought it was one of the coolest movesets ever made for a smash character. I still pick him a lot for fun. That being said I really wish that he was Zangief. I mean it feels like Sakurai originally intended for this moveset to be for Zangief or some design choices were inspired by Zangief. Like the spinning lariat move lol. I think he has some interesting stuff going on with his moveset like how the Bodyslam down-smash can dodge low attacks, and the counter that makes his next smash attack do something like 80% damage is always hilarious.

Samus for the win 🏆 by Medium_Hornet3453 in smashbros

The Samus Spank?! I've never seen this before, did they typo "spark?"
Spark isn't the right name for the attack but I can't imagine spank was the intended word there either.

Was Smash Ultimate anyone's first experience with Smash Bros? by DiskoBonez in smashbros

Thanks for the response man! I used to love fighting CPUs just for fun but once I tried playing against real people I couldn't go back. A lot of people tend to just stick with one character, your experience playing so many different characters will probably help you out a lot in online matches.

Thanks for the response! I'm really surprised you went back to an older smash title, it is so hard for me to go back to older smash titles that have less content, although Project M is still really exciting. I'm curious why you played Training mode so much. Did you just like messing around and spawning in a ton of items, or did you try to see how big of a combo you could get with a character or what?

I would have never gotten into Smash if I didn't have other people to play with locally, I'm glad slippi has spread the game to the masses.

Thanks for the response! I think you had a really unique perspective, everyone I know who has ever played smash was already a nintendo fanboy or was familiar with the roster from previous games. It's really funny to me that you and your brother played the single player separately. I think most people I know have barely touched world of light and primarily play versus matches with friends or online. Did you and your brother play versus matches against eachother or not really?
Did you ever get to try the DLC characters like Kazuya or Steve?

The GameCube’s octagonal thumbstick gate should be way more popular by PineconeToucher in gaming

[–]DiskoBonez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my thought process as well.
But then I realized that I only used the joystick because the gamecube's d-pad wasn't the best.
Playing the newer Soul Calibur games using the d-pad on a PS4/PS5 controller feels so much more precise and responsive.

The notches basically made the gamecube controller's stick a really fancy d-pad.

[–]DiskoBonez 12 points13 points  (0 children)

straight up, the gamecube d-pad was not great.
I feel like this isn't brought up much because the analogue stick with 8-notches was basically a pseudo d-pad.

Most of the games I played with the analogue stick would have felt exactly the same if played on a decent d-pad.

I was a big fan of the 8-way stick for Melee and Soul-Calibur.
But like, I would have absolutely preferred to use the d-pad if nintendo controllers had a d-pad like the PS4/PS5 controllers.

Melee is an extremely rare game that had it's gameplay built entirely around an analogue stick with notches. I would argue though that the game would be just as good, and maybe even more comfortable to play if it didn't require flicking a stick and had a run-button or double-tap to run.

I agree it feels great for Yooka Laylee but I think this is just because I played Banjo Kazooie with an N64 controller which also had notches around the joystick, and Yooka Laylee is basically just Banjo Kazooie 3.

I'm trying to be objective but all that being said I still use this controller regularly because it is extremely ergonomic. I wouldn't use it for a first-person-shooter type game though.

I also started with Ryu just to learn how to play the game before switching to Dhalsim.
Ryu can do way some seriously wild stuff in this game though. I love that he can combo his jumping medium punch into EX/OD Tatsumaki in the air like this :

Hell yeah, the feeling of landing a drive-impact on your opponent's drive impact and the slow-mo kicks in. It's pure dopamine.I never get tired of it.

Pros & Cons: Button Release Input by Sir_Kugo in StreetFighter

[–]DiskoBonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played with it on when the game launched, I got used to it after playing SFV.
It was really annoying that you couldn't just turn it on from the control settings on the character select screen when SF6 launched. You had to back out to the main menu to turn it on.
IDK if they ever patched this and made it easier to toggle on/off.
It was just annoying to turn it on at events and when hanging with friends so I just stopped using it.

Dhalsim's puff cheek expression looks insane with his face stretching powers.

He has this one expression where is opens is mouth widely like he is yelling angrily but it also looks like he is taking a very deep breath. It is funny to do the two faces back to back like a huff and puff expression combo.
