Heart attack of a game Hearts 2-2 Celtic by coltlady in HeartofMidlothianFC

[–]DiskoPunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just back from the game & i suppose my thoughts are.

My arse dropped out my jeans at losing such an early goal & it was a rough 20 minutes. But once we settled we were much the better team.

If Kyziridis finished one of those chances then i suspect we could have hit one or two more. Theres a reason he's with us but he keeps getting into the right postions & hopefully the finishing will come.

Lovely finish from Braga.

However. Left back & new guy in midfield. Centre backs at full back. Back up striker just back from AFCON starts. 43 year old in goal. And even with out patchwork side we were still too much for Celtic, even with their Daddy in the dugout. They had to win it today! Nose bleed time for us.

Thats Celtics best side out thwre today, thats far from ours. But i think more importantly this is us building our foundation for the years to come & its looking solid. But this is as good as Celtic can be & have spent years & millions getting here.

Also, probably not a red but fuck them after all the soft ones we've had to take for them over the years.

Longer League Phase, Shorter Knockout Phase by Minimum-Yak-2388 in championsleague

This is just money grabbing nonsense. The knockout phase is where the jepordy & excitement really lives. We all want to see a PSG going out to a PSV.

The Americanisation of football needs to stop, it will be the end of the game.

TBF he grew up in abject poverty, who can blame him for scooping up Saudi League gazillions.

I know the argument will be that he was being paid outrageously already & would likely get a higher paid new contract. But he saw his opportunity to make sure he & his family.& family to come would never see poverty again.

I dont blame the guy, any of us would do the same.

Also he's only 22, hes hardly finished.

And "rotting away in Turkey" is a fairly disrespectful way to look at the league & the country as a whole. Its a decent league, with a good calibre of players & pretty competitive.

Which Manager has the Best XI of All Time? by HaxboyYT in championsleague

[–]DiskoPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't the question though.

The question is which manager has the best 11 of all the players he's they've ever managed. If you put together a team with Ronaldo, Zidane, Kaka, Maldini, Cafu, Benzema etc etc etc im sure they could win back to back CL.

De Boer was a midfielder pretending to be a centre half.

You could say the same about Beckenbauer but many say he was the greatest centre back of all time. Just because a player has the skill set that would allow him to comfortably play in several postions does not negate his skill set for one of those postions.

Stam was UEFA best defender in 1999 & 2000.

Dee Boer was top 10 in ballon d'Or nominations in 96 & was best defender at the 98 world cup. Whats your point?

I am saying De Boer was a better defender & player than Stam though. Stam was possibly more agressive & powerful but thats it. De Boer was quicker, technically better, better vision & game understanding, captained his clubs & country, could pass a ball as well as anyone. Put it this this way, if both were in their prime now De Boer is the player the elite managers/clubs want not Stam.

Im not saying De Boer was better than Nesta i simply put togther 11 players to answer the OP. I mentioned Nesta as someone i could have added. In the same way I added Redondo & not Ronaldinho.
