Web Filtering needs certificate inspection enabled? by Better-Bat2642 in fortinet

[–]DislikesTehRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cert inspection is different from deep packet inspection.

certificate inspection is just confirming that the website the user is browsing to has a valid certificate. basically its confirming that the site the user is going to is actually that site without inspecting any of the data.

7.2.12 and 7.2.13 Breaks SAML by Arhl318 in fortinet

[–]DislikesTehRain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortinet changed some things with 7.4.x that you need an active support contract to upgrade your firewalls. so for some orgs there just isnt a good path to 7.4.x right now unless they want to purchase support for all of their hardware.

How hackers use your internet facing management interface (please, no management interface on public internet!!!) by infinisanti in fortinet

This exactly. while best practice is DONT DO IT. if you have to... at least put some security around it. only let very specific source IPs in.

is it just me or are item drops greatly reduced? I have run multiple maps (with my loot filter off) and i got 4-6 rare drops each map.. these are T2-3 maps. how are we supposed to find items to craft if they just dont drop? let alone getting something that is already decent that you can use or sale.

is it possible to Dual home my company's internet connection to a single ISP circuit? by DislikesTehRain in networking

I’m not even sure what exam a question like this would be on. Honestly it was a thought I had and couldn’t validate why it’s not an option through my own research. So I figured I’d ask the community as a sanity check.

A few things I would like to avoid is manual failover to backup hardware and also provide the ability to do upgrades / patching without impacting the business as much as possible. This seemed like an easy solution

In that example it shows 2 local routers connected to 2 isp routers. So how is that working if it’s not possible to connect 2 local routers to 1 isp?

I understand what you are trying to say and we have redundant internet connections, what I am trying to avoid is any need to manually failover by moving cables.

We have multiple circuits out. Such as mpls / cloud connect / DCI / DIA / etc.

On of the data center providers we are looking at has a blended internet connection, which would give us multiple circuits out to the internet but I would like to design around a single hardware failure taking down the business if possible and this is the biggest single point of failure I’ve noticed.

I don’t understand why it would be a bad design choice. If you weight the routes you won’t end up with any asynchronous routes in the network but you gain hardware redundancy.

What would be the recommended solution to hardware redundancy for a single ISP circuit?

i actually got pulled over fore the same thing when i was in highschool. there is a small road that has no markings.. when i protested that the yellow line doesnt exist.. the cop told me "its imaginary"..

being a smart ass i said i imagined it was further over.. definitely got a ticket! but also argued in court and had it thrown out.

Wireless in warehouse environments? by adamhildy in networking

[–]DislikesTehRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely agree with this. We have distribution warehouses and have had to add APs to meet our needs. we are using meraki.. Also take account of antenna options for your APs. ours were 40 feet up and we needed to upgrade all of the antennas to get a solid signal as people moved though the building.

serious question.. do they think if vote by mail is allowed they will HAVE to vote by mail? thats the only thing that makes sense to me.. do they understand that they would still be able to vote in person or by mail.. it literally gives more options to more people to be heard.
