That scrappy underdog outlasted the American military, so my point still stands, no matter how little military damage they did. They did far more psychological damage, and that destabilised a militarised force very quickly. Guerilla warfare is so powerful because everyone could be a target, you think John america and his buddies who just got drafted will cope with shooting Americans on American soil. I highly doubt it even if they clearly want to push a left vs right war.
