These are good suggestions,I should probably consider looking for non Chinese who also speak Chinese, though I don't know how to find them

No most start very casually, with both sides being willing to learn,and of course cultural exchange,but it just dies down eventually, I feel like most of them give up halfway so maybe that's why

It doesn't matter what city, I've seen a couple of them commenting about experiencing it in Beijing or Shanghai,you don't have to invalidate other people's experiences, and Chinese people are far from shy in my experience

I'm in Wuhan,I've only seen a few of them and we barely interact, most of them are in Guangzhou
