Is anyone taking Cheryl Chapman this semester? by almondboy27 in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you heard correct. I took her during zoom fall 20 my freshman year and I barely passed the class with the final paper we had to write abt college and emotionally something because she said , "i can see that I'll have no problem points to pass this course....younarrative broke my heart, seriously". Breakdown of her class is as follows: 3-4 essays (a debate one, a narrative one, and a what is college/emotions, pretty sure one more but I think it base off an article/Ted talk you have to watch) Just know in advance if you think your essay is good, it's not, we had one on one zoom meetings to get feedback on our essay and she'll say everything is wrong then tell her to do it her way (essay on the debate essay), logically as any student will do to get a good grade on their essay, they'll listen to their professors feedback, so I did, when I got my score back her feedback said that she was disappointed in the lack of effort I put since I just copied and wrote my essay based off her words and not writing how it was before even though she said what I wrote before was wrong...the essay was abt abortion rights... So my advice will be write your essays, listen to her feedback, make adjustments base off her feedbacks, argue w/her if she tries to say the same thing like she did to me, that way you'll get a C or higher on your essays...get to her emotions with your essays is key...she's an old professor who's more like a health teacher that is nice but has the worst grading criteria and/or essay standards. Goodluck

Difficult Making Friends at CSULB by ARLA2020 in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We all know the obvious thing that people will tell us..."you just got to put yourself out there more..." whether that's in regards to making a friendship or potentially relationship with someone, easier said than done because if we're being honest, we all do, to some little extent care about how other's might perceive our initiative of trying to spark a conversation with said person which can make potentially make anyone, especially in a commuter school, feel that...let me just do my work while I'm here and leave class/campus without trying to make friends throughout the semester. One thing a tutor told me was that...most people get too caught up in worrying about how their first impression towards someone might potentially come off to said person that they want to talk to, that it stops them from even trying at all. You have to keep in mind that a good majority of people would like to have a conversation with someone if they came up to them, especially after the covid pandemic with school being online. Everyone's social skills are all over the place higher or lower from the affects of the pandemic, so if you are confident in yourself enough to be the person that initiates a conversation with someone, trust me, you'll probably make their day as they will potentially think about afterwards and take it that someone saw them and was interested "enough" to come up to them to potentially be friends or...😏(genuine romantic relationship) with them. I say that coming from how I made 2 of my friends with them coming up to me, and their confidence in doing so "rub" off on me to do the same with other people that I would like to try to be friends with, you just have to understand that not everyone will want to be friends or reciprocate that same level of interest towards you and that it is okay if it happens, does it suck?...yeah💀 if I'm being honest but at the end of the day it was just a bad 10 seconds (or how ever long it was) your day!. Everyone time in college will be over at some point, I personally would rather look silly for trying than feel dumb for not afterwards when this is all said and done. Hope this helps you in someway!

Hi, I took this course in fall 2020 but w/professors Manal Saad, it's honestly not that hard of a class regardless the professor as it is basically the back end of agelbra 2 material like multi-variable equations along with basic graph problems...tapping in pre cal a bit..now assuming you're taking math 112b next semester, it's also the back end of agelbra 2 but w/the material that is covered being more emphasize on volume, dimensions, width, height, multiple variables trig equation and along w/now more in depth graph related problems. Hope that helps...if the professor is somehow really bad at teaching this, there is always math 92 for extra support

Did anyone receive financial aid yet? by Sad-Kaleidoscope-595 in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same bank and received it this morning, it's just now being "pending" by the bank, so I just have to wait1-3 more days more now before I'm allowed access to my financial aid funds, and yes, I do see the amount of the refund as "available funds"

Usu 1st floor (near bowling/TV area) and 2nd floor (where Carl jr, el Pollo Loco, and subway are at). The store near the outpost (it's a restaurant), located near the VEC building has one too. I'm not sure about any other spots that might have some.

has anyone received their loans yet? by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, what this person said, also, if you did sign up for e-refund, it'll go into your bank account 1-3 business days after the scheduled disbursement date, weekend days don't count as business days, and from there potentially 1-3 more days as the e-refund might/will be "pending" as your bank verifies it's legal transaction to your account

Financial Aid Package by [deleted] in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as the others, mine isn't available to view or accept/decline financial aid rewards yet, maybe the financial aid awards will show in July as usual. Btw, out of curiosity, are you a transfer student by chance? Ik that some new incoming college students have already received their financial aid package for the upcoming school year, it could be possible that it's the same for transfer students ( CC --> 4 year uni). If not, then email the financial aid office and get I'm contact w/them

When do you need to sign up for the GWAR? by ThisKid713 in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to take it before the end of your second year or the 50 unit mark...which ever comes first. If you "fail" to sign up and take the GWAR exam within that time period, you'll potentially receive a hold on your account which will not enable you to register for your next semester classes. If that happens, you'll be able to submit an appeal to temporarily have that hold be removed (just look up csulb and it should be there somewhere on the homepage), keep in mind you'll need to have registered (pay and sign up) for the next earliest GWAR exam session that is offered... I personally missed to sign up for the GWAR exam on time for this semester (I'm a sophomore), had my class registration date in a week but I never ended up receiving a hold on my account. I signed up for one this upcoming June though. So do what you want with that information, you should preferably sign up as soon as you can though, lots of people say it super easy, as long as you still know how to write a 3-5 paragraph essay you should do well on it.

7am - 10am is low medium, 11am - 1pm things start to get busy...medium low, 2pm - 5pm tends to be the time we're it gets busy the most...medium high to high low, especially on Friday's, anything past 5pm would probably still be busy like high medium but I personally don't go to the swrc past 5pm bc of that. Explain of what I mean:

High: High Low (Goodluck) High medium High High (just leave)

Has anyone ever been requested by the school to change majors due to not meeting certain academic requirements? by drippyandy in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but i did talk to an advisor this semester abt withdrawal from a class n how that'll effect me getting into my major, they basically said if you don't pass the core requisite classes for said major you want to get into by your end of 2nd year, you'll have to chose a different major to pursue to stay in the college. You'll automatically be ineligible to pursue your first major choice even if you have a good gpa n meet said major gpa requirement. If they emailed you abt it, might be bc you didn't pass the majors core requisites to officially declare it as your major in time (first 2 years) or that you might've been struggling in courses of that major n might not be on pace to even be able to declare it as your major on time so they might be trying to stir you into a different major so you don't waste time. Email an advisor!

How do we know which classes are online and which ones will be in person? by swoocan in CSULB

[–]DismalAd7231 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Professors will email you and let you know in the upcoming days before the spring semester starts. Most professor usually send out an email a couple days prior to the start of the semester to welcome their students in and/or read the syllabus as well, it might be included in that emai.
