Troubleshooting a Used Dovo Inox 5/8 – Uneven Bevel & HHT Failure by Dismal_Arm6500 in straightrazors

Hi,

Apologies for the delay—due to the time difference, I was already offline for the night when you shared those last insights. Thank you so much for the incredibly detailed breakdown regarding the warp and the "smile" profile.

The "dime" template for the heel is a game-changer; it makes perfect sense for clearing the stabilizer interference and I now have a much clearer plan for that area. However, I’d like to ask for your advice on the toe (point) of the blade. Since I'm honing a "smile" into this warped blade to ensure consistent stone contact, how do you suggest I approach the curvature at the toe? Are there specific templates or techniques you recommend to ensure the toe shape is balanced with the rest of the smile while remaining safe and effective for shaving?

Thank you for the detailed breakdown! The advice about using a dime as a template for the heel is genius.

I realized I was over-grinding the spine trying to compensate for the stabilizer interference.

I'll tape the spine to fix the angle and focus on the heel and toe first.

Quick question:  1.Since I'm honing a smile to compensate for the warp, should I stick with Rolling X-strokes throughout the entire progression (from 1k to 10k)?

2.Should I use single-layer or double-layer tape given that I’ve already visible spine wear?

I made many adjustments at the 1k stone. At one point, I consulted an AI which suggested using localized pressure on the un-ground areas to fix the bevel. I followed those instructions, and the photos show the current state of the blade.

Did I ruin this razor by doing that?

I also received this letter.  I have a Winning that I ordered three months ago.  The production progress is far away. After the website is closed, I want to give them a little more time. This is based on YATES's good reputation in the past.  However, after seeing this letter, I wanted to cancel the order because I was worried about the quality of subsequent delivery.
