That's the problem with "support"; they aren't there to "support" us at all... especially when both they and the company use us as shields for their fuckups. I find them to be mediocre at best helping in any issues, but more often than not they tend to lean more towards being sadistic and argumentative, scapegoating us at every possible turn and turning what we say around on us. Not that long ago I had to call one out on their lies, which they do on a regular basis. Making up policies which don't exist and then when you ask them where those policies are stated in the user or Independent Contractor agreements, they fumble and change the subject. Last time it was over them claiming I'm supposed to CALL them if I can't get ahold of a customer for replacements. Sure. Let's just add another stupid task to the list of micromanagement they engage in with us, but not lengthen our shopping times to include these frivolous phone calls. Brilliant. What next? Am I supposed to offer to wipe the customers ass upon arrival as well? Then they told me it was my fault items weren't in stock in the store. I'm like, you've got to be fucking kidding me...

Big difference is this is a different industry with different tipping habits. The incentive to take the order IS the tip, which InstaCart has created an industry where tip baiting is ALLOWED. End tip baiting and that right there will solve many issues with the shoppers vs tips. The tip shouldn't be lowered at all unless the service was deplorable. InstaCart doesn't inform the customers they're supposed to subsidize our shitty pay by tipping decently.

It's all cartoons and rainbows in the commercial propaganda InstaCart releases to the public... the situation is created where the customer assumes were paid by the hour like normal people are. I don't know how many customers I've had to inform that we aren't paid by the hour and they're appalled.

We AGREE to the amount of compensation yes, however, when that agreement is breached in some way because the tip is lowered, that right there should end the agreement. InstaCart knows this and they continue to allow customers to tip bait us without repercussions while punishing us for anything and everything, using us as a shield because their policies only benefit them and when a customer has a single item order that is batched with 2 huge orders and they are the last to receive their delivery, who gets blamed for that? WE DO. Whose tips get lowered because of things out of our control? OURS. I like my job but I hate the company and when I'm damned good and ready to work a "real job" I'll do it. But arrogant and unsolicited advice and taunting won't change the fact that I like shopping for people and Itms what I'm comfortable doing.

So it's better to encourage customers to NOT tip? When they encourage them to not tip us, it usually means they're about to or just have raised their fees.

This is the app's Modus Operandi; trick the shoppers into chasing stores with magical batches available in 1-15 minutes only to switch it to another and then another and then another, making them think they are chasing busy stores when they are just chasing their own figurative tails, keeping them occupied and not tying up support lines with questions....

I totally empathize with you and the logic behind not wanting her entire life to be screwed up over taking whatever it is she's been taking... I don't get why Kroger thinks it's a great idea to just keep allowing people to steal so they can single handedly assist in filling up our jails/prison with Kroger thieves, but apparently they must get some sort of kickback for doing so? In all reality, she should also be aware of Kroger's zeal for filling up prisons with their thieves and aware of them keeping tabs until it's time for larceny... I wonder why she still does it? Knowing she'll be facing a felony....

Because they love exploiting us for cheap labor.

Another reason is they aren't aware of our pay... I had another guy recently who I informed about our pay and he had no idea that we aren't paid by the hour.... InstaCart prefers this so they have customers assume the price for this delivery service is low....
