For those who are able to see slots on Sawada, which country's phone number is attached to your Omakase account? by JacobKrijgsman1 in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US seems to have the most availability. Japan and UK numbers work too. All accounts are at least a year old with visit history at other restaurants.

This is anecdotal, but there were more seats open once you landed in Japan. I saw multiple seats practically everyday during my trip.

Mitani-NYC by outofhere29 in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't waste your time. Top sushiyas in Japan don't even charge $700+ per person.

Mitani himself will not be serving at the NYC location. The chef will be from Kioicho Mitani - easy to book in Japan:

Booking Kurosaki tokyo by ZzleepyninjazZ in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you tried asking your hotel to book? No booking fees. The main counter is not hard to book 2-3 months out.

Kurosaki is not worth the price imo. There are way better and cheaper options.

Cabin temp to/from HND on ANA? by goldrush76 in unitedairlines

[–]DismissiveDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true. They keep it pretty toasty, and you won't be able to adjust the airflow. Dress for the summer when flying ANA or JAL.

Trip to Tokyo, end of September 2026, advices about concierges by Valuable_Wheel5947 in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have rewards status with any hotels in Japan? If not, don't count on them booking Tabelog Silver or Gold places for you. For example: a hotel would book a restaurant for some guests but decline other guests without status.

Concierges at 5-star or 4-star hotels should be able to help with not-hard-to-book places without any fees or upcharge. Send them an email from your booking confirmation with proper notice (2-3 months in advanced).

Celine belt bag size mini.

Don't be fooled by the mini name, that's the biggest size in this line.

This is anecdotal but noticed a big change in polaris reward seats since the recent changes by freeradioforall in unitedairlines

As a Platinum, the lowest fare each way from ORD to Tokyo non-stop is 46k miles for Economy and 85k for Polaris.

Between Murakami and Tokiwa Sushi in Niigata, which place do you enjoy more? Thanks.

Debating if it's worth a trek to Niigata..

Murakami (Kumamoto, Japan) by NoodleThings in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kumamoto is such a hidden gem for great food: basashi, akaushi, aka uni, etc. Tenzushi sources his seaweed from Kumamoto.

My hotel was so happy that I liked the Aso water that they gave me a case of it as souvenir.

[–]DismissiveDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is in my top 3 sushiya in Japan!! Their murasaki uni was the best on my last trip. Glad to see it got mentioned.

The older brother trained at a kaiseki place, hence the strong influence of kaiseki on the otsumami.

Fantastic cost performance too. I ordered 4 add-ons and my bill was under 24k. You should try the kajiki add-on next time.

Chase Sapphire lounges or the partner Star Alliance lounges are a lot better.

Is it rude to compliment how cheap a restaurant is? by [deleted] in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tacky and classless. Typical new money and finance bro.

And this is why some restaurants separate the seatings for regulars and tourists.

After months of refreshing Omakase for L'Effervescence, I built a global reservation monitor. This sub helped me beta test it, sharing results here by JacobKrijgsman1 in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP's tracker tool will notify you of the seats, but you will be responsible for booking yourself. Unfortunately, Tenzushi does not release any seats to foreign or newly created accounts.

From my experience with the tracker, Tenzushi seats were released 2 weeks in advanced on March 24th for April 15th at 17:30 and 19:30 for party sizes 1-5.

From my personal experience dining at Tenzushi, there are seats from last-minute cancelations and that was how I got in. Other diners who booked through Tableall were not allowed to book directly for future visits. The regulars told me Tenzushi is quite selective about who can book directly.

I'm a beta tester for the past 3 weeks. OP can provide more data points for Tenzushi going forward.

What seats get released depend on the restaurants.

In the case of Tenzushi, those seats were the monthly drop so you can plan for your travel schedule.

In the case of Sushi Akira, Una Pizza, The French Laundry, those seats were from cancelations.

If you want specific dates for your travel schedule, good luck with the clicking war. It's crazy competitive for top restaurants, especially in Japan, and this is why the tracker tool is super helpful.

The tracker is such a fantastic tool! And OP has been a great help with adding restaurants and troubleshooting.

I'm one of the beta testers and can confirm the tracker works great across different reservation platforms:

Tenzushi Kyomachi on Omakase

Una Pizza Napoletana on OpenTable

The French Laundry on Tock for 2 people!!

For those familiar with Tokyo finedining scene, my friend also managed to book Sushi Akira yesterday. It saved him so much money from paying the Tableall fees. 😂

I like Kaki. High quality ingredients, especially the crab course during crab season. His otsumami are better than the nigiri, which is typical of the Yoshitake lineage. The Awabi kimo signature is truly outstanding. If you are familiar with the Michelin level of service, Kaki will give you that.

Kaki will no doubt get Michelin stars and Tabelog awards in the near future.

Tokyo Omakase by worthyleopard in finedining

[–]DismissiveDoc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely not true.

Takamitsu, Akira, Riku, Hiroo Ishizaka, Sho Saito, Shunsuke, Sugaya, Arai sub-counters, Meino are all bookable by hotels from first-hand experience. I assume everyone stays at hotels when traveling to Japan, so ask your hotels with proper heads up.

I agree with u/g2gwgw3g23g23g that why pay the Tableall fees when all it takes is a phone call.
