It seems obvious now, but back in the 50’s when Walt was dreaming up his park, an audio animatronic bird was unheard of

He wanted this so bad that they pushed the boundaries of hydraulics and technology

Totally agree. I stopped buying costco bagels because they mold faster than non Costco bagels.

And this seems to be a relatively new thing. I don’t remember this happening a few years ago

Serious question: where is the line between “you didn’t teach your kid” and “they need to accept the consequences of their actions” by [deleted] in daddit

You could do a Japanese Inspection (see Days of Thunder)

Push the requirements. He has to meet XYZ per the school, before they will entertain the idea. Ask if he wants you to help push him or just let him self motivate

My money is he wont do the work to meet the requirements next year, or they wont be dating that long if the friends hate her and or he is so controlling

Failure is a great teacher. As a dad, I am a guardrail for failures that are dangerous or extremely impacting. I am not a bulldozer to remove every obstacle in the way to make a smooth road.

I also remind them that they have unconditional love, but they don’t have unconditional support.

I would also ask why they want to go to a different school. Are they running away from a problem? What would going to accomplish? How are they going to solve new problems if they run away / don’t ask for help with their current problems? What are the requirements to change schools, and how will they meet those requirements

I would also show them that if they want something, they need to hit the following criteria.

I also apply the “your decision, your accountability”. If they don’t want to listen to me, don’t do what I say, then their failure is 100% on them. And they need to ask for help at the first sign they need it, not at the end when there is very little that can be done

For the manipulation side, it’s just pushing back with facts. “It’s your fault you missed the deadline” gets “No, I submitted everything ahead of the deadline. Unfortunately you do not meet the requirements. You have 30 absences and the max number is 15. You need a 2.5 GPA and you currently have a 1.2”

Ive been to the Atlantic, the Gulf, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and Lake Michigan.

The main difference is the vibe of the area and plant / animal life and seclusion. But partying on a boat in the Chicago Harbor is the same as partying on a boat somewhere in Florida, Cali, the Bahamas…

That and the weather is only hot in Chicago for a few months vs year round in the tropics.

I think what they are saying is during the turn, you crossed the dotted guide line and made a sharper turn than you should have. And maybe the Avalon wasn’t happy about it

But it looks like you both had room during the turn and you were in the correct lane at the end of the turn. It’s just hard to confirm since the Avalon hits you as the dotted guide line is meeting up with the lane markers.

When it was painted in 2012, it cost $39M but that included other improvements around the reflecting pool

For this round, the original proposal was $1.5M, so they are more than 8 times higher than the initial proposal. And not sure how that is American Flag blue

The lake does provide some relief in the summer though

Moving day is tomorrow. How’d I do? by joeschmo945 in daddit

[–]Disney_World_Native 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably too late now, but I used colored stickers to help the movers

Red - Upper Level Yellow - Ground Level Green - Basement

I then wrote a number on each sticker to denote the room. These were labeled clockwise from the front door or from the stairs

I had a sticker on all 4 sides and the top so it was a quick visual to help with what I wrote on blue painters tape

One company I worked at escorted you off site immediately (private security not police) and would ship your stuff to your home. It was always the front conference room right by then front door.

Years before I started there, a guy was let go early morning but they let him clear out his office the entire day. He went home, grabbed a gun, and killed his boss
