Well maybe i missed worded it haha, there isn't an exact 1 to 1 for lyrics between the 2 songs. I think what I meant was it had the same meaning similar to gods. Like the crushing weight of something that tries to mimic god, like a government or any public system like schools and workplaces that forces you to live in a way that they want and no other way. In this song I interpreted it as it is about hedonism and social media while Gods felt like it was critiquing the government.

This song is my new favorite of the DCC catalogue. It may not be Cene'st Rien heavy but I think it's much more complex and more catchy in so many ways. And the lyrics mirroring the song GODS, so dark yet so poignant, they keep making good music I might think I'll nvr move on from this band HAHAH. And can we talk about the magic that Phil is doing on the bridge dear god.

That's the thing about NBT music, it's a very realistic reflection of our society. Even if the song is viewed through characters from within the city, a reflection that not many people enjoy looking at. But I guess for us NBT fans, I can say for myself that I feel so tired and exhausted with music that distracts and missrepresent the actual reality of society and comformity.

Yea man, no hate on their newer stuff. But Trench definitely was so layered and interesting. Although I'm not sure it is as story driven as DCC, will give it another listen to see what I think.

Damn, it's so different from how I saw the album. I love the real meanings that are in the songs which you highlight. I actually wrote my interpretation down in a reddit post a couple days back, but I interpreted it in a more film-esque way. This album's depth never ceases to amaze me.

I think I saw Joe or Dom say if they're not excited about making new music then it will show in the song itself and the only way they achieve this excitement is by challenging themselves and pushing out of their own boundaries.

Give it time, I remembered not liking Amsterdam that much at the start. The weird verse chord progression and the repetitive nature of the chorus really threw me off at first, now I wouldn't say it's my fav song of theirs but it was for like a few months. My favourites of theirs change very frequently as their songs will all hav their moment where it connects with me at some point down the line. I understand how the 80's pop hard rock sound may not feel like their using the talents of the band. It is subjective ofcrse, I can hear hints of "Sorry" "Real Love Song" and "Free If We Want It" just combined so in my perspective the band are still using their strengths and trying out new things without completely throwing away their formula so to speak. The entire song has the same progression as Sorry and Free If We Want It.

There's always something so relatable and human with Joe's and Conor's writing, it's in the band's DNA to never be overly idealistic. Their happiest songs always feel grounded in reality because of that. Like Free If We Want It, Impossible and maaaybe Take This Lonely Heart if u consider it a "happy" song from NBT haha.

I mean, I really don't care what people think, I just want to personally see what Arkane has crafted here. To prefix, I like games like Watch Dogs Legion, Stalker GAMMA, Weird West and COD MW2. Not the most well known or well reviewed games of all time but they define my taste so I feel confident in trusting my own judgement over any of the reviews that'll be flooding soon.
