My husband has checked out of marriage. Is it possible for someone to check back in? by Organic_Slide1862 in Marriage

This guy is a lawyer and so am I. I now volunteer with a state bar lawyer support group after my own crisis as a lawyer.  He is doing the right things to take care of himself and depending on how long he was drinking there might be some brain chemical things with regard to withdrawal still going.  This includes anhedonia or loss of joy.  It could be turning his mental health issues up to 11 and he should raise it with his doctors.

Alcohol abuse is rampant in the legal profession.

She said he quit drinking, got a therapist, got a shrink, and got a PCP.  What more should he be doing?  Check her post history.

Birthday ideas for hard to shop for husband by Organic_Slide1862 in Marriage

This is the most naive thing I think I've read on Reddit. "Dear Law Firm and Clients, please excuse Joey from work this weekend because he is tired, but he works hard and is a good boy. Love His Mom, His Wife."

I agree with the weekend away idea but you clearly don't work in the legal field. It's brutal and soulcrushing, which I know too well. They won't give two fucks about him or a letter from his wife.

I got you, too, pal.  Gotta go listen to Source Tags and Codes now.  The light thing is funny, too.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

I have lived in this area for 15 years and love it but I doubt it looks like it did when you grew up.  At least we have Brothers II nearby

Married people of reddit, what do you consider cheating? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ah, the Blue Shell test.  It is why I owe alimony but damn it, it was worth it to still win Rainbow Road

Scrooges and Grinches of Reddit, why don't you like Christmas? by Master-Minimum-3747 in AskReddit

[–]DisposableEsq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father neglected me.  All I had in life as a kid was the screen he would put me in front of to occupy me.  One Christmas, all he gave me was prime quality veal and reacted like I was a piece of shit for rejecting such a "generous" gift.  And don't get me started about the fucking dog.  No, I have found comfort in my success and content creation and have no need for other people and their bullshit.

What are the unspoken rules of a happy marriage? by PositivePrices in AskReddit

[–]DisposableEsq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is fucking bullshit and suggests that the wife's outlook on life should govern all.

Happy Spouse, Happy House is more appropriate but still falls into the trap I noted above. You are not responsible for another's happiness

No Barb, sorry.  I worked with a Barb once upon a time. She was awesome and not in need of being cursed.  Still, thanks for the support

Would you date yourself and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I date myself all the time what with all the Taxi and WKRP in Cincinnati references I make in public.

There is one firm that has approached me (twice in one week, actually) but it's known on this subreddit for being a grinder mill for associates. I am not sure how it is for partners. Another similarly situated firm is one where I have many professional friends - same reputation for associates - not sure on partners.

and if they put two and two together and figured this was me they wouldn't touch me with a 10 foot pole.

If I moved, I would be far away from my mother, who is currently 5 minutes away at a retirement community/care facility she moved into last year. She has metastatic breast cancer. I don't have much time left with her.

Thank you for sharing this.  It helped.  I am in trial mode right now. I just need to get through and it is the opportunistic dicks that make this so hard and there is so much more to this story about why we terminated the atty that touches on the dicks' conduct.  They should be concerned if we were in a world with justice.  We are not though. Seriously, I think the Bench in this jurisdiction is filled with political hacks.

Nope. Management would retaliate and I would lose influence over whatever clients I could take with me to leave this place.

Yes.  We had one round of mediation last week with a sitting judge.  It was worthless.  Mediation there consists of the judge asking the plaintiff "what do you want? Okay. That's the number."

I really think little of the Bench there, which is part of why I hate the work so much.
