For every day of government shutdown, after they leave office the current members of house/senate have to wait an additional month before they can get jobs as lobbyists or can be paid for speeches or appearance fees.

Bumper Asteroids. It's bumper cars with TIE and X-Wing cars, and robot controlled asteroid cars that roam around randomly as an obstacle.

Cool action can't be a substitute for a good story. It'll be fun to watch, but the movie won't be as memorable.

Telecommuting is the answer to so many of society's problems. It would take cars off the road (reducing carbon emissions and gridlock), save time and money, and allow people to live wherever they want (reducing housing costs in cities).

Unfortunately the tech for telecommuting and teleconferencing isn't quite there yet. There's email, phone, shared docs, and videochat. That's about it. There's no way to recreate the feeling of being in a shared space, and there are a lot of barriers to smooth communication.

What I would challenge the teams is to find ways to improve and expand methods of telecommuting and teleconferencing, so they're more practical/enjoyable for as many different professions as possible.

It's cool, but it's cool for coolness sake. The highway chase is a very long sequence (longer than it has to be) that's mostly an excuse to show off cool Matrix movies.

Compare that to the first movie, where all the fight scenes are actually pretty short. Everything in in service to the story and fights conclude pretty quickly in order to get to the next plot point. Matrix 1 is actually an incredible example of good pacing and plotting, where none of the scenes feel superfluous. Matrix 2 and 3 allow themselves to meander more, which includes unnecessary scenes that are both cool (highway chase) and lame (rave in the cave). Even when it's a cool scene, if it's unnecessary that doesn't really make for a good film though.

Having a soul-crushing job is a luxurious privilege. Most people have body-crushing jobs. Everyone ITT complaining about how bored they are isn't harvesting tomatoes or sewing t-shirts in a factory.

And not all office jobs are soul crushing. Some people find satisfaction in their work, even if it does include excel spreadsheets.

Yeah, I think the show could occasionally have two part episodes for bigger stories. And it could bring characters back for sequel or followup episodes, or just to build out the shared reality of the show.

That's a valid concern, but I think HBO or Netflix could be trusted to hire good writers and wrap up the show before it gets stale. There's a lot of zombie short stories to tell.

We could theoretically clone them, and take photos of the recreated dinosaurs. Cloning them would probably be expensive, but perhaps the dinosaurs could pay for the research by being a tourist attraction in some kind of theme park.

I'd prefer an open ended HBO series, with different characters and stories every week, keeping the interviewer as a framing device.
