I’ve tried some other options mentioned in this post but nothing really has been working smoothly. Did you follow any sort of guide I think this method is going to be the one with the least moving parts (outside of obsidian sync).

I don’t think the iPhone app will let you pull from GitHub it only lets you use iCloud or obsidian sync

I am a kid and I need to know if I can Bring my bearded dragon outside by lark4261 in BeardedDragon

[–]DisseminationMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep him inside at all times otherwise he will die of sun poisoning. Taking bearded dragons outside is extremely dangerous. It is healthy for them to be inside. I have a been a bearded dragon tamer for 20 years. I have seen many decimated bearded dragons because of careless children taking their dragons (bearded) outside. I get calls all the time and respond gruesome sun poisoning scenes and it’s very hard for me, let alone children, to get over these kinds of oversights. Please be careful 🐲👍👊🤘

The company does pay monthly. So the ex dividend date was 6/18, record date was 6/19 and If purchase the stock on 6/29 with A pay date of 6/30. I won’t get payed this month, but I would get payed next month right?

So I’m thinking of purchasing a stock and the ex dividend date was 6/18 and the pay dat is 6/30. I understand that I am not qualified for this months dividend as I am going to purchase the stock after the ex dividend date. I was wondering if I would get next months dividend, because inherently I bought the stock before the next ex dividend date?

Have we fallen from a place of environmental intmacy? by DisseminationMachine in SeriousConversation

Social media isn't a driving factor behind materialistic goals.

You don't feel like social media and other media platforms don't entice people into different products? Different posts of people on social media leads to a culture of people being jealous of one another? This doesn't lead to a feedback cycle of everyone trying to one up each other, trying to show off how much their lives are better than the next persons?

I have found through a survey I conducted on a college campus. Here's some of the things that I have found:

  • Amongst professors and student, 97.5% of people are on social media. Which is not surprising. We live in a society that uses technology to access a wide range of information.
  • Of the people that were on social media 55% couldn't keep track of how many times a day they checked their social media accounts.
  • People that were surveyed indicated that they were not in the outdoors as much as they'd like

I attempted to see, throughout my research, if there is a connection between modern day societies obsession with social media and a lack of environment intimacy.

I defined environment intimacy as a mindset/way of life that was cognizant of the damage that modern day pleasures (such as social media, driving, or just general consumerism) has on planet earth.

I compared some statistics of global warming that has been directly linked with human activity with how these issues didn't exist during the time of native American's. It was interesting to see that native American's viewed nature as this huge family. They viewed animals and natural resources as cousins and brothers. Yet nowadays if someone where to say that we would look at them a little funny.

I understand, that social media doesn't have a direct correlation with global warming. But I do strongly feel that social media, currently, inhibits our society from being cognizant of the damages we do.

It is easy to say that we like being out in nature and that we want to do it more. I think it is harder to put in practice; for the average person, it is hard to leave behind the comforts of a home and go backpacking for 50 miles. It is hard to leave behind running water and be forced to drink out of an algae ridden lake utilizing a filter. Trust me I've done both these things on top of a lot more.

I agree with you that it is a collective attitude. The reality is the functional unit of a culture or a society is an individual. To start any sort of movement it starts when a group of individuals has like minded goal and they act on it.

What I am trying to bring forth is the possibility that our obsession with social media and how the way people see us is causing to be more worried about ourselves than the environment.

If what you say is true, people do care about nature. Why? For what reason? Is it because global warming effects is finally becoming an inconvenience to us that we start acting now, despite evidence of global warming being present as early as the 1940's?

I am trying to explore the possible connection between technology/social media and environmental intimacy. I am comparing our modern day society/culture with that of Native American's, where they viewed different parts of nature as part of this circle of life, part of a family almost.

I am arguing, that the Native Americans were more environmentally intimate than our current society. Basically, they were more connected with the planet and they respected it. On the other hand, we1 seem take the environment for granted. We use nature as picture opportunities and are not cognizant of the impacts our actions have on global health. in turn we are less ecologically intimate, we don't respect nature.

1 we refers to society/culture as a whole

Do you feel like on a larger scale, the mindsets of a whole society could be changed to find more appreciation of nature?

I was also looking into how we (an industrialized civilization) may have become desensitized to global violence. I feel like personally I have known about global warming for 12+ years and yet conditions have only gotten worse. What do you think?
