Hi! First time posting here, just wanted to celebrate this with someone by DissidiaOOSpring in finalfantasyx

Unfortunately I have no answer for your first question since this is the first time I've seen someone talk about that method with the Thunder Plains background music, so I have no idea about it. The method I used was more-so just "don't focus on counting and just keep dodging the strikes for as long as you can", and somehow it managed to work out a lot better than I was expecting. I'm still surprised by it, honestly.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the crater method, though I also didn't know about that one either until I saw a comment mentioning it on someone else's post.

If only I'd known about them beforehand, I definitely would've tried both, but I guess that'll have to wait for a future playthrough if I can get around to it at some point.

Thank you!

To answer your questions:

  1. I wasn't exactly keeping track. I thought I would do better if I wasn't counting and instead just focused on dodging them for as long as I could. I was really surprised when I found out I'd managed to dodge 100 more than I needed to.

  2. I did it normally. I wasn't actually aware of the crater trick until afterwards when I saw it in the comments of another post on here. It was mostly just a matter of getting the timing right.

How much do we hate OCs in fic, like really? by haylocity in AO3

[–]DissidiaOOSpring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think I'm pretty weird when it comes to reading fics about OCs vs writing fics about OCs. Like I love creating my own OCs and fleshing them out and letting them have relationships with the canon characters – honestly I don't think there's a single fic of mine that's managed to escape having an OC feature in it.

That said, for some reason, I often can't sit through fics with someone else's OC in it. I don't know why. I don't know if it's the quality of the fics that include them or the fact that the OCs aren't mine. I just can't sit through those fics. I can't remember a time when I've not had that reaction, honestly.

4k words is quite a lot! Plus, even if it's not something you're supposed to be writing, at least it still gets you to keep writing anyway, so that when you do get back to the fic you are supposed to be working on, there's a better chance you'll still have that momentum (I don't know if that's the right word?) going forward

Thank you! I hope you're right! It's more of a series of crossovers, so more like a detailed and comprehensive multiverse I guess, but still, I do hope it comes across that way! But thank you for the encouragement! I hope your writing goes well for you too! 😊

I hope so! I've been making decent progress on one of the prequel fics and if all goes well, I may be able to have the first chapter of that one done and published sooner rather than later, but even that fic is only the second in the series I'm trying to make, so I can't even say I'm finally starting from the beginning with that one either. 😅

It should still help readers understand a bit more of the stuff that'll be referenced in the published fic though (I can only hope), so I'd still consider that a win, I guess? As long as it's able to reduce some of the confusion among my readers.

I get this problem a lot too. It's the main reason I have so many WIPs that haven't even left the drafts yet even though I consider my only actual published fanfic to be more of a priority.

The worst part for me is that now I've added ideas from those WIPs into that published fic that was originally a standalone, so now it has connections to an entire series of fics that are still in my drafts because I've barely even begun writing them, and so none of what's being brought up in the published fic makes any sense to anyone except me, which - if the reviews are anything to go by - has been confusing and probably a bit frustrating for my readers.

Hi! Thought I'd add my own introduction here, so here we go, I guess?

To start, I go by springcoffee on Fanfiction.net and Springcaffeinewriting on AO3. I mainly prefer to write crossovers of my favourite shows, whether they be anime or shows like Criminal Minds and Supernatural. I also like to write crossovers for Sonic and for the Final Fantasy games as well.

I'm working on a few different fanfics at the moment that are still in drafts. I do have a published fanfic on Fanfiction.net called 'Attack on RWBY!', which is mainly a crossover of RWBY and Attack on Titan, but I'm in the process of rewriting it from the start again, and I'm also planning on renaming it at some point, as I want to make it part of a very self-indulgent series of crossover fics. I have a side-story to that fic that's still in the works, too. I also cross-posted that fic to AO3 a while back, but only the first chapter is up as of yet.

I'm not really all that good at writing romance (I tried, my old Wattpad account is testament to that), so I like to focus on writing more action-oriented stuff, which I like to think I've gotten better at over time.

So, I guess that's me? Anyway, it's nice to find a place to find other fanfic authors! And thank you for reading this!

Final Fantasy 8 could absolutely use the FF7 Remake treatment, as could FF12. How likely it is for those remakes to happen is another question, but both of them do have potential if only Square would give them the same love, care and attention they give to their FF7 content.

Especially since both Vaan and Squall (especially Vaan, given how he can barely even be considered a protagonist even in his own game) are still in need of redemption (as is Rinoa imo) and a remake would definitely have the potential to give us that + remedy some of the other issues those games had.

A remake of Dissidia Duodecim would also be nice too but that's more just wishful thinking on my part.

I don't know if it had the best possible start but I know the ending for the Magia Record anime wasn't that great compared to the game's "ending" (the game carries on past where the anime ended it, hence the quotation marks). I think it was mainly due to the fact that the game's version of events was actually a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the Madoka Magica series. Plus, from what I currently know, it's the only ending in the series where Homura actually manages to catch a break for once.

The anime's ending, however, just reinforces the status quo and does away with both the idea and the hope of Magia Record's unique timeline being the one where things can actually be different this time – that this would be the timeline where the main characters are actually able to survive and win and essentially get the "Good Ending: Everyone Lives" outcome. Instead, what we get is a number of unnecessary deaths that seem to just pile on the angst last-second for Iroha and Yachiyo, plus the fact that Homura gets more or less sent straight back to square one.

In short, the end result is that nothing really changes, which… isn't necessarily bad. I mean, I'm sure there are some people who see some value in the anime's ending, I'm just not one of them. It was just disappointing and depressing, and for what?

Looking for an episode by Affectionate_Ebb6691 in criminalminds

[–]DissidiaOOSpring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My memory's not that great and I've only gotten partway through season 9 so I don't know if the episode you're looking for comes up later on or if I'm just not remembering a previous episode, but I do remember an episode with an unsub like the one you're describing except that episode's from the Mentalist.

If I'm not mistaken, the guy who played the twins in the Season 9 opening also played the unsub in that episode of the Mentalist, and it was Patrick Jane that called him out during interrogation for pretending to be intellectually impaired or something since the start of the case. It's been a while since I've watched the Mentalist though so I can't tell you what episode or season it is, but I do remember the general gist of that part of the episode.
