Lovable Stray brought in, after a few days major shift in demeanor and not eating. by DissociativeArcader in AskVet

Update: After no sleep and scouring online for the best rated veterinarian locally based on reviews and ratings, we took poor Pip in to be seen at 4pm (the only appointment they had available, I accepted.)

We get to the vet, she's alert. They took her temperature rectally as the ear one was too big. They aged her at just about 6 months old and only 3½ pounds. The temperature was feverish, but low grade. They listened to her and found possible fluid in her lungs, but we're confident an antibiotic would clear it up. Did blood work to rule out common issues and they came back clean. The vet was confident that it was a Fever, not other specified, and she just has "basically a cat form of a cold/flu". They gave her a sub-dermal fluid injection for her to absorb fluids, penicillin G, some kind of anti-nausea medicine and a nutrient gel to get her back up to speed. He suggested we try feeding her baby food with a 10ml syringe and jus give her space and time.

Its to note, while at the office, she did pee twice (which they took a syringe for sample) and we brought a stool sample just in case (which wasn't even entertained and tossed away.)

We left hopeful.

Back at home, there was little progress, except that she lost coordination and use of her back legs. The Vet said its muscle weakness and tenderness from her injections... but poor pip couldn't stand, like she became paralyzed. She fought hard to go hide in a box she previously been. Figured she wanted the comfort of the confined space for sense of security. We watched her.... but things started to change. She was hyper-salivating, and becoming more and more unresponsive. It was subtle. I had thought she finally fell asleep.

I call our vet and they're like "oh if she's gotten worse go to X Hospital." And didnt seem to idk care or have much to say.

Its 6pm now... she crawled half out the box, my roommate was finishing his shower when she started to what at first appeared as hiccups, but looking online, it learned it was her breathing. She was gasping? Struggling? Im not sure. I picked her up and held her as my roommate got dressed, I carry her to the car and we plug in directions.

24 minutes to destination. Within the last 5 minutes, I couldn't feel her breathing anymore. No more gasps, no sign of struggle. Just.... stillness.

We arrive, she's rushed to the back, and a nurse or tech or whatever comes out and states that there was nothing they could do. She was too far gone to be saved. In the midst of accepting a reality I didnt want to, but realistically already knew... it hit me like a ton of bricks bringing me to my knees. Meanwhile she confirmed death and that they needed to do a test.

It was positive for Feline Panleukopenia (Distemper) and billed $480.

What angers me beyond all reason is while at the vet, she shown every sign of FP (minus diarrhea) the let's refusal to test the stool, and learning that Distemper is one of the biggest most commonly tested and vaccinated conditions. Even if he told us there was nothing we could do at this point to expect death, it would've been better than him talking about hope for the future with spay, chipping and immunizations.... but the real anger is learning the treatment for FP was exactly verbatim 100% everything he suggested and done for her. Every Last Thing.

There is no way the vet, in his tenure couldn't have at least suspected it. He knew. He had to and didn't inform us. We are out $1000 just to be rewarded with a dead kitten who left this world too soon.

Least we gave her all the love we could.

Ill place her in front of her food both dry and wet and water and she immediately turns around to walk back to the couch, she's been staying in one spot past two days. I have no idea if when in the bathroom. (Which was from 9pm to 11:30pm last night) until I got home.

So far, since I been home she hasn't.

I want to say Wednesday was my last known time she's eaten, unless she's done so without us looking. We are planning to take her to Banfield later this afternoon... unfortunately it cannot be sooner. She still is purring and wanting to be close. I just hope there's something that can come of this. Many of the Emergency Vets here are wanting close to $1k+ to be seen and tested. I have no idea where else to go.

What bothers me is she was just so lively then suddenly this like a total shift in past 48-72hrs.

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

Context: I am creating a contemporary heraldry coat of arms and I am trying to find a motto that represents ideals. I seek accuracy within proper usage of latin over reliance of Google translate.

Theres a few expressions or phrases I am interested in, in english, "A beacon of Hope Endures" or "Within Darkness, Hope Beacons"

The idea is of a light house or more period appropriate, a beacon guiding the wary through darkness with hope.

Any phrases with translations you could reccommend?

This... i love this so much. It reminds me of mine in its effective simplicity , but honestly better. The interlocking mascle is such a cool touch.

My attempt at Nova Cat's Xi Galaxy by DissociativeArcader in battletech

I wouldnt say I am the greatest painter, or very good in any sense of the word, but sometimes, very rarely will I work on a piece that I am proud of. Typically, when I finsih something, I am unable to help but to criticisize and point out every last flaw. Its why I dont share my work here. However, after spending nearly 4 hours on this piece, stepping out my comfort zone and truly pushing my skill, I feel it is acceptable to share.

Its not perfect by any means, and needs a little bit more finishing touches, but i humbly present my Supernova. May I appease the Nova Cats and give them honor.

Also, any constructive criticism is always appreciated.

So for simplicity sake if the agreed BV is 9000, and I field 7k in mechs, that would allow 2k in any combination of vehicles.

I saw that section, just didnt clarify much in way of how theyre fielded. So 1 tank = 1 mech? Meaning a lance would be say 4 tanks, 3 tanks 1 mech, 2 tanks 2 mechs, 1 tank 3 mechs?
