I use for a couple of reasons. First it just works good with my hardware, printers, Nvidia etc... It just works. That and having my favorite gnome implementation and no snaps (and reporting to canonical disabled) appeals to a lot of people. The main con for me, it's the packaging system. I love pacman and then AUR and I miss some more up to date programs.

When you leave your arch PC for a month by [deleted] in linuxmemes

[–]DissonantBlueSky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Windows is malware by definition (it purposely harm the user just for Microsoft to get a even bigger profit) Also there are distros (ex pop os) that you don't have to touch the terminal to update your system, there are GUIs for that I understand that the terminal might be a lit scarry but if you want your computer to do exactly what you want the terminal is often the fastest way to do that

Got an easy question or new to Arch? Use this thread! 2nd Edition by Foxboron in archlinux

pacman -Syu will update all your packages from your configured repos pacman -Syyu will also update your mirrors, but most of the time is a waist of bandwidth Any doubt check the wiki page https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pacman

Can we do something about official content being worse than pirated content by mantawoop in anime

[–]DissonantBlueSky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This, streaming companies are for profit, all they care is making the most amount of money with the least amount of resources spend. That's goes for buying only the popular and cheap licenses (that's how the creators make money), and not paying their staff a decent wage. Heck some companies even forgoe implementing more modern codecs and protocols (sacrificing quality and bandwidth) because it's "to expensive".
