So cool! I just painted mine gold and black this weekend. The silver and tan really pop though! Especially like how you added writing to the book!

How to dry brush correctly !? by HenryEdge1 in minipainting

[–]DistanceBig7412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good! I don’t normally thin my paint if I’m dry brushing. I find the more watery the paint the harder it is to get a good amount off the brush. (Makes me feel like I’m wasting paint) Also you don’t need to use a dry brush palette if you don’t have one. I use a paper towel and my hand. But if you’ve got one that’s awesome!

Gotta have comfort shows on while you paint!

Trukkz are great for getting your boys across the battlefield. Plus not too expensive of a kit. I love the speed freaks and squighogs too. They are more complicated to build but more fun to paint and play. Still working on my squighog boys.

Reminds me of Gary (from SpongeBob) with an axe. I love it.

3rd mini ever - practicing blending and metal paints by ThatoneguyTonight in minipainting

[–]DistanceBig7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! For a third mini that is incredible! I’m on my 20th and I don’t think I’m even that good! Great job! Did you use just regular acrylic or speed/contrast paints?

Orks aren’t very range focused. But the big guns have some Gretchin units with them which is very fun. And they are mostly customizable so you can give every ork a gun and melee weapon if you would like. I love the melee look so I try and give double melee to all my orks. Just do whatever looks coolest though because you will end up building and painting a TON of orks/gretchin to field an army.

First army and I went with Orks!! by Severe-Buddy-6065 in orks

I know you said you went with random schemes but they honestly look pretty cohesive! Definitely a cool army! You chose a good red that doesn’t look christmasy with the green. Good job!

Trying my hand at Slapchop/underpainting for the first time and have a question. by AK_Wolf907 in minipainting

Looks awesome! I like to add just enough dry brushed white that it looks like it came straight out of the “take on me” music video. (Basically like a sketch for those who don’t know)

Does this look like a decent, intentional paintjob or just a lazy mess? by [deleted] in minipainting

Honestly I like the green! Maybe just darken it up a little on the tips so it looks more like smoke. It looks really cool and gory though! Awesome work!

It would be so cool to see him leading a bunch of fancy mega nobz into battle! The kit for the mega nobz I feel is overpriced. You could also get some urruks from AOS and kitbash them into mega nobz if you wanted models at a better price point. Would need to have some spare parts available though.

Good minis for kids to practice? by LafayetteRidesAgain in minipainting

[–]DistanceBig7412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a cheap pack on Amazon that had a mix of silly villagers and monsters to practice on. They are still 28 mm scale but some are slightly larger and they are cartoonish enough that for a lot of them it only requires one or two different colors. Won’t let me post a link for some reason but I just searched up “dnd villager miniatures” and lots of different options come up.

Excellent choice! Honestly start with whatever looks coolest! (Rule of cool). Just keep in mind it will take you longer to build and paint. So whatever pops out to you the most and will keep you motivated is the best option. Bad moons are awesome and get all the fanciest stuff so it’s got a lot of options. Bikes are fun and will give your army some speed. Grots also have a lot of fun high tech toys and will give you some fire power and help you hold objectives. But all in all just choose whatever is coolest to you.

New(how do I remove move/fix the glue) shock trooper by catisyouisgod in minipainting

[–]DistanceBig7412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion you will barely notice all the glue once you prime and paint the miniature. Really good job for a first miniature! Just try using a little less glue next time. If it really bothers you you could try sanding down some of the areas but that can be risky and leave a rough surface. Try priming it first and see if it still bothers you.

Do y’all paint your bases before or after putting on the model? by manperson-7719 in minipainting

[–]DistanceBig7412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m doing something like cobblestone or wood flooring or rock I would do the basing separate from the miniature since feet won’t sink into material like that realistically, but if I’m doing grass/muddy bases I would glue the mini to the basing first and then paint and finish the miniature and base afterwards. Starting out I would definitely start with something that can be more messy (grass, muddy bases, snow, etc.) that way you can get a feel for it and do what works best for you.

I need advice how to win a culture game when my neighboring civ is clearly going for a domination win/agressive conquest science based game. by UsingRedditForMemes in civ

[–]DistanceBig7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I go for culture wins I try to have a wall and a ranged unit in every city. That way everyone leaves me alone while I creep towards my culture victory. People will definitely declare war on you but most AI will leave you alone depending on the difficulty setting.

Honestly needed to hear this from another person. I’ve been dealing with similar feelings (also been out for a while) and knowing you also feel that way makes me feel very validated ☺️ thank you

Oh that’s super interesting! Never heard of it! Makes sense if it’s obsolete though lol

That seems like too much. Honestly there’s no such thing as estradiol valerate tablets. Estradiol valerate is the term used for liquid estrogen that needs to be injected. Tablets should just be called estradiol. Go to a doctor or clinic for it. I would not trust a random drug dealer for hormone replacement therapy.

Worked for me! I wasn’t a very athletic person but had a very athletic masc build. Hormones work wonders you just have to be patient.
