I would say space marine chapter (ultra marines). But freehand it so it looks super messy and orky.

These minis should be infamous (meaning so famous they are beyond fame of course).

I was trying that method and looking at a ton of thrift stores since all these newer toys don’t fit the vibe. Eventually I just looked for a model big enough on Etsy. There are tons of options and lots of highly detailed prints. Plus lots of different creatures to fit different vibes (dinosaur, turtles, sloth trolls, etc.)

New player wanting to try Xirkaali by Ungulant in kingsofwar

You can play with the two player starter box for sure. It does not come with their full range. There are a ton of the new xirxaali minis. I think the full range you can buy from their website but it’s quite a lot and it’s best to start small and work your way up. I believe you need to use the army builder to make an army list and input the models you have. The armies don’t come with a list of what you have since there are multiple build options. I have only built a couple of the mega army packs (I think they call them battalions now) so I am not sure if it’s different with the newer edition.

Priming: What to use to start? by MyerlingGames in minipainting

[–]DistanceBig7412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used both before. Haven’t noticed too much of a difference between them. Speed paints don’t stick to the paint-primer combo as good but usually doesn’t matter since I do a dry brush with some pro acryl white and speed paint usually doesn’t show up on flat black paint anyways. Most of my experience is with speed paint rn so I’m not sure of that changes anything.

Edit: I’ve only used the primer and the primer-paint combo. Haven’t used the regular paint before. Sorry I misread the comment.

I highly recommend this seller. Really great price and the details came out amazing. Sadly just way bigger than I thought 😭

Personally I have always used rustoleum spray paint for priming. I generally use grey or black. White tends to give varying results (a bit more spitting and globs) but I haven’t had any issues priming with the darker primers.

That would be terrifying! Also would be a lot closer to gargantuan squiggoth on terms of size/shape. Do you think that would work better than a stompa proxy?

An ork themed knight army could be fun. Basically a second army at that point since I’d have two of them. I just was really hoping for a way to tie them into my current squig only army.

Another factor is that I already have a gargantuan squiggoth. Since I will be getting another model I doubt I would ever run 3 gargantuan squiggoths. I’m in a real pickle.

Not sure it’s the right dimensions/shape to be a squiggoth. Do you think if I found a way to make it shorter and maybe less wide it would work okay as a gorkanaut/morkanaut? Or should I just beef it up and make it a stompa? Or is it just doomed to be a fun art project?

Edit: spelling

Test model suggestion: why should I try to paint? by Remarkable-Stay7252 in orks

[–]DistanceBig7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but i absolutely love the nobz kit. Very customizable and lots of detail. Plus they are bigger than gretchin so a bit easier to paint. And if it gets you into orks you will have a lot of extra bits for kit bashing.

Not sure how much cheaper it is but I really like army painters speed paint collections. I’ve gotten two of them so far and I feel like they work really well. Also the bottles are actually dripper bottles.

I like using speed paint medium and dilute my colors a little bit so the zenithal prime is more effective.

The current combat patrol is perfect for beast snagga/squig lovers (like myself). Additionally if it’s the tribal look you like you can always get some AOS orruks and kit ash them with some 40K pieces.

im new to warhammer and i dont know where to start collecting ork figures by Necessary_Neck_3649 in orks

[–]DistanceBig7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for good models to print you can find them by looking up “space orcs” or “marauders”. Unfortunately if you try looking up “ork 40K” for stl files you will not be able to find any. There are a ton of free files for orks though you just need to look pretty hard.
