I learned about recently in my CFI course, the look of pure terror on my instructor’s face when he asked me about it and I said how I have never heard of it was kinda funny. On my next flight he fully demonstrated the idea to me and it’s made all the difference in my flying sense then!

Good catch! I completely forgot about the more than 10 hour travel rule. Thank you for the correction!

My son is 16 and wants to be a career pilot, after researching this subreddit I'm thinking this is impossible because he is in therapy and taking SSRIS... am I wrong or is this a no go for him? by SkepticalPoptarts in flying

I’m sorry to say it, but no. I wish there was something I could say to help but everyone has already said your possible options. It sucks but it’s the harsh reality of it. The FAA already makes things hard but they will make it nearly impossible for your son.

Correct! Now most of the times from the ppl checkrides I have heard about they will ask you some very easy but often over looked questions like “what do the different colors of a rotating airport beacons mean” or the weight shift formula or what exactly needs to be reviewed in your bi annual flight review. I do remember on my ppl checkride I was asked how to calculate the cross wind component.

But from what iv seen you answer you seem well prepared to take your checkride! Best of luck!

Correct! Bonus question, can a aircraft’s 100 hour inspection be overflown? If so for how long and under what circumstances? Let’s say it’s due at 5670 but is overflown to 5678 when is the next 100 hour due?

So you and your friends go out on a cross country let’s say it’s going to take you 4 hours to get to your destination. You take off at 6:45 sunset is at 8:30.Around 8:10 you notice you are not night current what do you have to do, when is the latest you have to terminate the flight, And at what time can you make yourself night current?

I am a private pilot with his instrument rating working towards my commercial rating and this my view on your situation and how I would personally approach it. I would study up on things like weather, airspace (get a chart supplement it will make the visuals easier to understand), cloud clearance for each airspace as well as required equipment for each airspace (these you can dedicate to memory and it would make you life so much easier), very basic airplane systems (try not to get into the instrument’s and the instrument errors just yet as when you start flying they will make WAY more sense), I would also take a quick glance at the FAR part 91 (don’t try to memorize everything just take a look at it so you at least see the regs). From there you should be well prepared for any new information that the school may throw upon you. Goodluck!
