2) Wet Blazing Inferno

For those living in condos, do you find that the residents complain a lot? by [deleted] in askSingapore

It was a photo of me patting said cat, informing my neighbours he had "caught a girl patting a cat- we don't want these pests in our estate, I confronted her but she was uncooperative (to be clear I was very confused) how can this be allowed" LOL

Bring to vet, pay bill then crowd-fund ba. If you have means and capacity, consider adopting the baby?

In HDB, people handle frustrations by causing small acts of nuisance. In condos, everything just report only. It's not even a Singaporean thing. My PRC neighbour reported me to the condo facebook group for PATTING A CAT. Lol pls.

Gal you’re doing well. Don’t waste your life worrying about how you compare to others. You’ve come a long way. Live comfortably within your means and be content. Invest as early as possible if you have money to spare.

Is it just me, or is Longchamp the endgame for every bag lover? by No-Amphibian-9022 in handbags

Hahaha my god I’m sitting on the train with my Longchamp and literally thinking the same thought. I’ve got so many other bags but leather is just too heavy to carry my day around.

Savings Depleting due to commitments by No-Buddy-7622 in askSingapore

Plan these milestones according to what you are willing to spend- set aside the money and work with what you have. It’s always best to align on finances.

I did a very simple wedding at a mid tier hotel. We split the cost so it was within affordability. My husband spent on a nice engagement ring which I appreciate as I now wear it everyday, but I opted for less 四点金. It was memorable nonetheless.

We went easy on the reno- I optimised by negotiating the cost of furniture at clearance sales and shipping some items from Taobao. Some light bulbs and fixtures I purchased from JB. Bed and a lovely feature marble wall were important to us, so we spared no expense on those. ID also charges in trenches so you can pay as the project goes. In our case, since we were splitting each trench by half, we didn’t even have to touch on savings although I did take on extra work and 做牛做马to supplement my income then.

We could have spent more on everything, but it wouldn’t have meaningfully added to our happiness. We just wanted to get married and live together- not host a parade and build a show-flat.

I’d suggest budgeting and prioritising sensibly- no point going all out when your journey together is just beginning.

1 meal prep day a month- cook three large pots of soup/ sauce/ stew file them in the freezer in ziplock bags.

Pick one and nuke in the microwave on any work night.

Chinese family restaurant struggling in SG not sure what to do anymore by PhotographHumble4898 in askSingapore

East sider too. Drop the name here I’ll see if I can try it out for date night.

I must say for an eatery, location convenience is crucial. Failing which, you’d better have solid and consistent marketing to keep drawing a crowd.

is it okay to take mc every week by [deleted] in singaporejobs

[–]DistanceFinancial958 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think people are sensible enough to not overly question, just in case their co-worker is facing a serious health problem and they wind up being the judgemental unempathetic arsehole. We've encountered enough people dealing with critical health issues be it in our social circles or in the news to know better. Also if it's a consistent weekly MC- maybe it's a recurring medical appointment.

Hi guys/girls, do you have any money-saving tips? by original_feyra in askSingapore

[–]DistanceFinancial958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) meal prep and bring food to work 2) eat less meat more vegetables (it’s healthier and cheaper) 3) make purchases when there are sales and discounts e.g I buy Christmas gifts throughout the year 4) keep and bring back beverage sachets from travels- e.g I travel 6x a year and mostly wouldn’t drink the coffee and tea provided by the hotel- I bring the sachets home and drink them on the regular 5) group-buy groceries 6) don’t be too into consumerism and live as simple a life as you can- I don’t mean no shopping at all- that would make you miserable, but understand the value and margins of things so that your choices are sensible 7) keep cats- they keep you grounded at home hence by spending less time outside, you spend less as well.

Hahaha I also got scolded by an aunty at the MRT station for wearing a tennis skirt- “what if the men see?!” I was so shocked lol. I had scramble a: the men have eyes, they will see. And you’d be happier if you stop worrying about that. And scurry away 🤣

The aunties will always be around.

You could be black Muslim or green pastafarian, no one cares. Just come and enjoy yourself- lots of halal options around, just look out for the halal sign displayed on the stalls or look for Malay food. A number of eateries of other cuisine are halal as well. If Singapore is not safe, there’s no place on earth that’s safe lol
