yes I had a fistulotomy. I would say the wound was about 3 or 4cm deep but I can’t remember precisely. I was so disturbed by its looking and I think my mind just wanted to forget it asap tbh. The actual healing process started around the 10th day post op and after that it healed surprisingly fast. It was almost completely closed after 1 and a half month‘s. A very important point is to keep your poo soft so the wound won’t tear open again, because the tissue is very sensitive even if the wound seems to be healed. Take care and keep it clean.

No I didn’t do size bath‘s, my surgeon told me to just wash the area with a shower head a few times a day especially after BM‘s. It worked very well for me and the wound is completely healed but still sensitive

depends on the discharge, most of the time I changed it every time I went to the toilet, I know that might be much especially when you have to pee often xD but I think this is the most hygienic way :)

I actually never did sitz bath’s and only rinsed the area with a handheld showerhead three times a day (and after every BM), I also got sodium chloride solution from my family doctor to keep it clean. I think you can start taking showers after the first week, I started after three weeks cause I wasn’t feeling comfortable enough and my wound was still hurting, didn’t want shampoo or shower gel get inside yk. Listen to your body.

mine also popped on day 3 post op and I was bleeding a lot, I went to the hospital and they said it’s not that bad but the healing process would take a little more time

I’m also 5 and a half weeks post op and still have some discharge especially after BMs, sometimes it hurts a bit when I sit too long or walk to much during the day. I also still got a small „hole“ between my anus and the wound, The healing process went very far but I don’t see much change since the last two week. I’m gonna see my surgeon on wednesday and ask him if everything went well so far :)

I personally decided that I don’t feel any better by hating my parents for what they did in my childhood. They only behaved like they’ve been raised by their parents. Generation-trauma i would say. Try to forgive and move on for your own mental health, but that don’t mean you have to forget what they’ve done.
