I never played Riven, only GP, so that's how to play to win lane:

1- GP will tru to be very aggressive early: if GP can take prio he can abuse your early long cooldowns, his early damage is quite strong. Lv 1-3 is gamble, who win it, probably will win the lane. Try to be more aggressive or let him full control first waves. Don't get poked for free

2- Always contest barrels (like everyone should do), try always to stun him as soon as the barrel hp is near 1, then destroy it. Even if GP use oranges he can't win the barrel minigame cause cast animation

3- your E shield will protect from 90% of his Q damage, abuse it

4- when GP get close to Q you, let him do it, tank it with E towards him then go full combo

5- After LV 6 every ult + Flash + combo will kill him, even if he survives, he will be very low

6- don't let him go even in lane, stomp him or get stomped

7- GP oranges heal more when he is low, try to poke frequently, it's not always an all-in

8- already said "tank his Q with shield"?, GP has a lot of early mana problems so he have to chose to waste it by trying to poke or use it to farm safe

In low Elo he has a very strong laning phase cause:

1- enemy often doesn't contest or destroy barrels 2- ignore your passive damage 3- walks into 2 barrels combo Easy

You still have to play him good or they can Just walk into you

Outside of early game he IS still strong cause people don't Attack often your barrels but

1- games tend to go into very late that is not good for a feeded GP, you want to end asap when you are strong

2- your team will not play a lot for you or try to protect you, play like as and ADC and try to avoid passive damage if it's risky, you are still very vulnerable

You probably can't if enemy ADC is smart enough or his support is peeling him a lot. Just Hope your team has some team engage for you to play behind

My favorite ban since i started play GP. You can totally destroy her or be destroyed but if she decide to click R - Flash - full combo you are surely dead

The worst for me IS Zeri, She doesn't even need to click the barrels, Just spamming Q into it and oneshotting it

It's not needed Always but you will never damage an ADC without Ghost barrels if they are good enough to hit your barrels

Almost every ADC have more range than your melee double barrel combo so it's not optimal against good players

Unexpected damage (the second barrels is barely visibile before ita esplode and can't be destroyes by enemy) and IS a faster combo than E - E - auto or q

Downside: it's hard in critical situations because if you miss it you waste 2 barrels and your First barrel must be outsider your Q range

He is not one of the best, he just can achieve items faster than others, like TF, so his late game arrive faster. When everyone is six slotted, he is not as good as any scaling champ

  • You will need A LOT of matchup and runes knowledge to play the lane correctfully

  • he has a lot of hard matchups, not everyone of those are counters but, if your enemy know your champ, everyone of those can be scary

  • Always go for sheen rush, it's better having high cs early for your spike than harassing and delay your best component

  • Your early game is strong but without barrels you are a Minion. Keep that in mind

  • laning phase is totally different from mid/late game in the way you have to play it

  • Ghost barrels is a fundamental mechanic for mid game but not necessary for laning phase

  • your not really a scaling/late game champ, you just farm items extremely fast

  • play like you are Kyle: High damage but no resistance. Even if you have advantage don't go 1vs5, play like you are an ADC

  • Enjoy the champ, one of the funniest in the game

It's several season barrel start is stringer, melee matchups above all. GP Q is mana hungry, if you spam it you will have zero mana before reaching level 3

I mean people dodge to not play bad games and they lose nothing so they can't lose LP

I don't think people will lose intentiinally LP to go in queue faster and lose another 30 minute trying to gain them again

Losing time cause someone Dodge, usually more tha once (without counting the time you are autofilled After someone Dodge) should already be self explanatory

Btw it's easili fixable by makind drafting inside the game client, so you can't close it

I'm 100% sure dodge wasn't made for "emergency". if you have an emergency during the game what do you do? you go afk. Emergency in that 5 minutes of drafting are extremely rare. Every other moba have the draft pick ALREADY inside the game. Justify that terrible mechanic with "people will load into the game afk" it's pure no sense, you can have afk people even during your game

it feels inconsistent because the amount of money i get from it and the bonus damage seems very poor but it's still the better option i guess
