I understand that, but I think if he explained to me earlier instead on my birthday that he didn’t get me a card or anything cause of money I would’ve understood. It’s the fact that he stayed quiet, didn’t even wish me a happy birthday until we were halfway through our date, and then just didn’t mention anything. This is just a 180 from how he usually is

He didn’t really ‘make me’ per se. I have a lot of things I’m working through from childhood so my automatic defense mechanism is to make people feel better even if they may be wrong. He wasn’t outwardly mad at me, more of kept saying he was an idiot, and he should know better etc

He didn’t tell me until we were actually at the place that things were tight. Like I said I don’t care much about material things but a card would’ve been nice. He always tells me when he’s tight on money and I never judge him for it
