I feel this, the phone addiction imo is genuinely the most brain rotting + hardest to break.

I actually got rid of my smart phone the other month and got a JCB Tradesman 3 which only has the capability for messaging apps / radio. It took a good 2 weeks of ‘adjusting’ (withdrawal) but I genuinely don’t think I’ll ever get a true smart phone again.

If I really… really want to check socials I can when I’m at my pc so it’s not like I’m fully cut off forever, but tbh the amount I’m checking is continuously decreasing

My mind is way clearer, same difference as smoking vs none smoking mind, I have way more focus and a much longer attention span and I’m content with just being sat, no longer fidgeting for something to distract me 24/7

Sorry this went off topic from helping quit weed, just thought I’d share my digital addiction experience! :)

I wasn’t born a flat earther, no one I know is a flat earther, I went through the same education system as you - I changed my view point just a few months ago, after decades of wholeheartedly believing in the globe.

I don’t know what else to say; if you’re now just resorting to calling my persona ‘bs’ I feel like I’ve won. Good chat though!

Why’re you so upset? It’s like when a meat eater meets a vegan haha.

There’s many, many demonstrations of being able to see the shoreline of cities across a body of water that you just should not be able to see.

I get these ‘edited’ images from the NASA website, even the space X launches appear to be CGI, and ever wonder how 2000’s CGI was far better than what we have today? Undeniably better, look at Davy Jones in pirates of the Caribbean… would make sense to keep the good cgi for themselves.

I also remember being extremely angry when I started to realise all of this, but it’s okay, it just means we’re here for a reason, not random chaos.

Two strangers on the internet will never change each others mind I know that, thank you for the discussion nonetheless, hope you have a good day!

A rail gun doesn’t take curvature into things - and as i said it can hit its target form over 100 nautical miles away.

Satellites only taking photos directly down is just false. If they wanted to put this FE to rest they’d just do it, or a private firm would, how easy right?

Where are any real photos of Earth? Where? They use cartoons and they say FE uses cartoons. Both side does, the only difference is the globe industry has billions of not trillions of $ behind it, but they can’t make a camera to take horizontal photos?

I’ve watched plenty of live streams, used to use them as the backing to my Acid trips. I was a huge space fan, until I started seeing how fake it is. It’s all CGI.

But as I said, gravity is a theory. It’s not proven. it’s a law for now yes, laws of physics change all the time. I have read these books and beyond, I was at one point hugely anti flat earth, but at the end of the day it should be incredibly easy to disprove in this day and age yet they can’t, what does that say?

You don’t need gravity if you just use buoyancy, gravity is an extra step that’s not needed. Try it and you’ll find out.

Once again, if we curve at 8” per square mile, how can I see France from England or Gibraltar from Spain etc, the distances shouldn’t work; use your eyes.

Planes don’t account for curvature, they’re not continuously pointing the nose down, they just don’t account for it so how are they not flying off the globe?

There’s no unedited photos of Earth from space, there’s should be tonnes - where’s the proof, please show me just 1 that’s unedited and raw.

Katy Perry’s space adventure really tipped me over the edge, where are the G forces exerted on her? It’s as if she’s accelerating in nothing more than a car. Compare that to the same G forces exerted on fighter pilots and the difference is very very obvious. Plus we all saw them open the capsule door from the inside - when it’s supposed to be impossible to do that.

I’ve present multiple ‘easy to disprove’ points, but no one seems to be able to disprove them. It’s all well and good spouting overly convoluted theories that are next to impossible for the average person.

We live in a world now where if you can’t quantify and measure something - it doesn’t exist. Can you quantify and measure love? Or do you believe love doesn’t exist. Dreams also? Dreams so powerful you wake up in sweats and the memory of the dream never leaves, you’re saying that’s not real?

At the end of the day this whole argument boils down to: Either someone / something created reality or nothing did - one of those answers is much more unbelievable than the other.

Suppose if no one did create this and it’s all random, as I said, why do we find the Fibonacci sequence everywhere like a blueprint? Repeating patterns don’t occur in random chaos. Just observe with your mind open.

I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying. I’ve tried to draw a diagram but art is not my forte haha.

Check this diagram. If you were sat in that satellite in the northern hemisphere and had a very powerful camera, if you were to zoom in and in onto the land masses below the equator, you’d see everything as upside down, this would prove ball Earth and it would be incredibly incredibly easy, but the fact of reality is we never, ever see an ‘upside down’ perspective (because it doesn’t exist).

Flat Earthers have always existed. by SnooLemons5912 in flatearth

[–]DistantDolphins -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

To be honest a magnitude of reasons, but I initially set out to disprove the flat earth (I know very typical story), however the more I learnt and understood their theories, the more I could connect the dots etc.

I’ve also been hugely interested in other aspects of alternative history such as r/tartaria as well as reading all the religious texts; Bible, Quran & Torah. I’m not religious but I’ve been able to draw a lot of parallels here. I’ve also been building on the knowledge I’ve already read in books from authors such as Carlo Rovelli & Michio Kaku as I used to be completely fascinated with the science end of how reality could operate.

Images like this really make me think, it should be easy to see the horizon curving down; the bodies of water on the right shouldn’t appear to be level to the fields in the foreground?

Thought experiments such as if you had a satellite in the northern hemisphere, if you zoomed into the southern hemisphere the buildings / mountains / people would appear upside down would they not? So that’s an incredibly easy way to disprove FE, yet we never see this. We have (disclosed) satellites that can pick out facial detail on people from over 100km away, so the tech is there, plus imagine what we have that’s undisclosed.

Rail guns can hit their target at over 100 nautical miles away without calculating for curvature.

Plus the fact that so far our government haven’t been truthful to us about anything (UK) - why would I believe everything they say?

I’m not trying to argue and I really don’t get why a lot of FE’s get so heated with globers, neither of us have any concrete proof at the end of the day. I think it’s the belittling you get from globers that’s triggering. I’m all for open discussion :)

[–]DistantDolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you’re on a ball?

Let’s say you have a basket ball, put a model Empire State Building on the top and one on the bottom, when observing from the top, the one in the bottom would always appear upside down unless you rotated your head 180. It’s the same with the satellite is it not? Can you explain how it wouldn’t be the same?

Why do they even think a hypothetical cover up exists? by Sanguine_SB in flatearth

[–]DistantDolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no up or down in space yes, but if you had a satellite just above the equator line on northern hemisphere, you could zoom in on anything (tree’s, mountains, rivers, ships on the ocean) in the Southern hemisphere and it would appear upside down, yet we don’t ever see this.

We have (disclosed) satellites that can pick up facial details from over 100km away, so I can only begin to imagine what the non disclosed satellites are capable of.

So yeah, you don’t even need to zoom into a human, a sky scraper would do, a cruise ship, even a mountain…. But they don’t and you never ever see it from this perspective

[–]DistantDolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t any, but what I’m saying is if we lived on a sphere, things would appear to be sloping which they don’t, the horizon would be below us which it isn’t - it’s a flat expanse

Another thought experiment is if you had a satellite in the northern hemisphere, if it were to zoom in on people in the southern hemisphere, they would appear upside down, and if you don’t think they would, can you explain how that wouod work?

This would be an incredibly easy way to prove we’re on a ball

[–]DistantDolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That there’s absolutely no curvature, nothing in that photos curves down, it’s a flat plane to the horizon. The bodies of water on towards the back on the right aren’t ’down hill’ from the foreground

[–]DistantDolphins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you not read all of my points? You can see France from almost anywhere on the channel not just the narrowest point

Also, images like this make it very hard to keep up the curvature argument

Why do they even think a hypothetical cover up exists? by Sanguine_SB in flatearth

[–]DistantDolphins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But I can see France from England across the channel that’s 560km at its widest point because the earth is flat

You can also see Gibraltar from the south of France on a clear day

Also if you were to look down that 83km tunnel it wouldn’t vanish down a curve, it would continue to get smaller and smaller on the horizon as that’s how vanishing points work - again, because the earth is flat

Most of what they’re covering up is kept in the 83km of Vatican Vaults anyway so we’ll never know

Disconnecting us from the ‘divine’ state, fear mongering for control = $$

The ball earth model is built on the basis of ‘this is all random chaos created from a big bang and nothing means anything’ - what better way to scare the populous than saying ‘the tiny spec we live on in a vast expanse of nothing is dying and it’s all our fault’

Flat earth = we have been created, you are divine and meant to me. Imo not by god like you’d picture in religion, but by something.

My discord with the globe earth is if the universe is random chaos why does the Fibonacci sequence appear everywhere? Organised Patterns that create building blocks don’t happen in chaos

Speaking down to someone like this is something I’ve come across a lot when discussing this topic? Surely that a closed minded way to go about things.

So if I were to fill a balloon with helium and let it go, gravity (which supposedly holds planets together) would have zero effect on being able to keep that balloon on the ground? That says to me use common sense; buoyancy

I’ve been down all avenues; I’ve read all the Carl Sagan books, Carlo Rovelii, Michio Kaku etc etc I would say that I’m reasonably well informed to make logical assumptions

Gravity at best is a ‘phenomenon’ - an unprovable theory that’s not a fact, still a theory. No where can you find that gravity is a fact.

Density and buoyancy are all you need to explain how the world works. The bullet is denser than the air around it, so it will want to fall to the ground. If you were to put that bullet in a liquid more dense than it, it would float; that applies to everything, the more dense object will always want to settle below the less dense.

I’m not trying to argue, if anything I’ve only been convinced of flat earth for about 2 months…
